(SPOT.ph) Chinese food has a special way of hitting the spot for Filipinos, and Comida China de Manila was one go-to spot you could rely on for no-fail, hearty Binondo-style fare. They've been around since 1996, earning them a steady slew of regulars, but hearts were broken as they announced their closure just last May. In a happy twist of events, though, the resto's making a bit of a comeback with the opening of Comida China de Manila Libis very soon.

Formerly in Pasig (where this photo was taken), Comida China de Manila is an icon as far as Chinese food spots go—and soon you'll be able to reunite with your old faves!

Get excited for Comida China de Manila Libis:

Comida China de Manila is reopening as Comida China de Manila Libis on the ground floor of S&R Libis. They'll now be under a new corporation, dubbed Old Chinatown Food OPC, with a member of the third-generation family of the original owners (who requests to stay unnamed) leading the way. As the new space is smaller (a 50-seater spot that's roughly 126 squaremeters, the family member shares in an exchange with SPOT.ph), they'll also be condensing their menu to focus on bestsellers; ome of the items you can expect to reunite with are the Shrimp Balls, Comida China Soup, and Pinsec Frito.

Excited yet? They're slated to open the Libis leg likely by January 2023. Should you be unable to wait—and coincidentally happen to be in Pampanga—you'll want to check out their sister establishment The Red Rickshaw Restaurant in the meantime, as it serves a similar lineup of Chinese comfort fare.

Formerly known as Panciteria San Jacinto before changing their name to their current moniker, the restaurant's been a go-to for members of the Filipino-Chinese community, be it for casual everyday meals or for grander celebrations.

Comida China de Manila Libis will be at G/F S&R Libis, E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave, Quezon City. For more information, check out Comida China de Manila's Facebook page.
