Miss Saigon Musical Announces Extended Run in Manila
For one more week!
(SPOT.ph) ICYDK: Miss Saigon is coming to Manila on March 23, 2024. They already announced that they're extending their run until May 5, but it looks like they're getting another closing date.
"We’re beyond thrilled with the excitement and enthusiasm that the Filipino audience has for Miss Saigon, that we’ve now made the decision to extend the production for one more final week. We’re eager to welcome more people to be able to experience the classic production," said GMG Productions’ CEO Carlos Candal.
The production, initially set to close on April 21, then May 5, will now run until May 12, 2024.
Miss Saigon Synopsis and Cast
Premiering in 1989, Miss Saigon features music by Claude-Michel Schönberg and lyrics by Alain Boublil, who co-wrote the book with Richard Maltby Jr.
Inspired by Giacomo Puccini's Madame Butterfly, the story unfolds amidst the turmoil of the Vietnam War. It follows Kim, a young Vietnamese woman working in Saigon's Dreamland bar, who falls in love with Chris, an American GI. Their romance is tragically disrupted by the events surrounding the fall of Saigon in 1975, forcing them apart abruptly.
Abigail Adriano takes on the role of Kim, leading the Miss Saigon Asian Tour, alongside Seann Miley Moore as the Engineer, Nigel Huckle as Chris, Laurence Mossman as Thuy, Kiara Dario as Gigi, Sarah Morrison as Ellen, and Lewis Francis as John.
Additionally, Filipino talents were selected through Manila auditions last January to join the production. Anderson Bonita, Keone Buenaluz, Dylan De Ocampo, Enzo Isaac, and Cassidy Lorenzana were chosen to portray the character of Kim's son, Tam, on stage.
