(SPOT.ph) Filipino illustrator Carlo Vergara is best known for the comic-book character Zsazsa Zaturnnah, a red-haired superheroine in the graphic novel Ang Kagila-gilalas na Pakikipagsapalaran ni Zsazsa Zaturnnah. It's been 18 years since that cult favorite came out, but the artist never stopped coming up with interesting superheros, villains, and everything in between. In 2013, his first-ever one-act play Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady was staged at the Cultural Center of the Philippines as an entry in the annual Virgin Labfest. If you missed it, then this is your chance to see this Vergara classic as it streams for free on May 7, 3 p.m. It’s available online for one week.
Written by Vergara and directed by Chris Martinez, Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady tells the story of Mely, a maid for the superhero team Fuwerza Pilipinas. She later finds that this task is more complicated than she expected. It stars Kiki Baento as Mely, Hans Eckstein as Leading Man, and Skyzx Labastilla as Viva. The one-act play was later produced as a musical in 2015.
Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady goes live on May 7, 3 p.m. at the CCP's YouTube channel. For more information, follow CCP on Facebook.
