(SPOT.ph) Since it was founded in 2006, Art in the Park has always welcomed young artists, student organizations, independent art spaces, and all kinds of art enthusiasts into the gates of Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Makati. The annual showcase is regarded as the more laid-back counterpart of Art Fair Phiilipppines, especially with its offering of free admission, more affordable art pieces for sale, and the rows of food stalls alongside the art booths. Snacking on some popcorn and drinking beer while going around the venue was highly encouraged.
In case you missed yesterday's event, here are some snapshots from Art in the Park 2024. We went at dusk, when the sun was much more forgiving, people were more at ease (likely courtesy of the all-day wine and beer), and the dust had (literally) settled following the morning ingress.
Art in the Park 2024: In Photos
Art in the Park has always been held at Jaime Velasquez Park or Salcedo Park in Makati. When asked if it'll be transferred to another park, Trickie Lopa—co-organizer of Art Fair Philippines and Art in the Park—said that probably not. After all, the outdoor art fair was essentially the product of a brainstorming session on how they could celebrate the anniversary of the Salcedo Community Market back in the late 2000s.
There are three featured artists for Art in the Park 2024: Clarence Chun, Demi Padua, and Pepe Delfin. Their new works served as the centerpiece of the outdoor fair.
The 18th edition of Art in the Park brought together more than 60 exhibitors, including galleries, art collectives, independent art spaces, and student groups. Items for sale included pots, paintings, toy art, comics, stickers, postcards, and more.
Art in the Park 2024 happened on March 17, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Jaime Velasquez Park (Salcedo Park), Salcedo Village, Makati City.
