Art in the Park 2020 Is Going Online
And it's happening for a week!
(SPOT.ph) With people advised to stay home amid the pandemic, the arts and culture sector is trying their best to adapt while still delivering art to their audience: Cinemalaya 2020 is going online, more Filipino plays and musicals are streaming on YouTube, and art galleries are holding exhibits through the Internet. Art in the Park 2020—which was postponed a week before it was supposed to open on March 15—is also gearing up to bring their artworks into the virtual space. In an announcement posted on July 18, it was revealed that Art in the Park 2020 is going online from August 10 to 17. Fans are advised to turn on the notifications for their posts so you can always be up to date on their announcements.
Since 2006, the annual Art in the Park—known as Art Fair Philippines' more affordable counterpart—calls the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Makati City, its home. Admission has always been free, and works being sold have a cap of P50,000. Art pieces—from paintings to sculptures, from photographs to mixed-media pieces—are laid out on the ground, piled inside boxes, or placed side-by-side inside small booths; giving Art in the Park a laid-back ambience.
When the event was canceled in the May, Art in the Park organizers said that the weekend event will be rescheduled to later in 2020. True enough, the outdoor art fair is pushing through soon.
