(SPOT.ph) Ramen’s great, but ramen with a good sidekick is better—and while some prefer gyoza alongside their bowl, there’s just something about the soft, juicy bite a good pork bun provides in between slurps of broth. Boy, does Ippudo have a treat in store: order any of their special ramen—that’s the Shiromaru Special (P495), Akamaru Special (P499), Karaka Special (P499), Mushroom (P420), or the Yokohama Iekei (P499)—plus a glass of bottomless Iced Tea or Lemonade (P120), and you can get one Pork Bun for free, valid from dine-in everyday until January 31.
Consisting of pillowy-soft baos with succulent slices of braised pork, Ippudo's special sauce, and lettuce, these buns are a fan favorite for a reason. It's one of our favorite pork buns in Manila, and we can't have a meal at Ippudo without downing a piece.
ICYMI, Ippudo’s Akamaru, Karaka, and Yokohama Iekei specials now come with Torched Chashu, which pack a big whallop of smokiness and more texture, whichever ramen variant you choose. Meanwhile, the Shiromaru (whose Motoaji variation made it to first place in our 2016 Top 10 Ramen Places list) uses an untorched, but nonetheless bigger, roll of pork belly.
The Japanese ramen joint’s come a long way since opening in our shores in 2014, when they wowed us with their just-rich-enough, flavorful takes on ramen with noodles made fresh everyday.
