(SPOT.ph) Pizza chain Shakey's may be best known for their, erm, pizza, but it's the Mojos that really keep us (and many other regulars!) coming back. This signature side of seasoned and breaded slices of potatoes delivers spiced, soft, spud-y goodness every time—so you can only imagine our disappointment upon learning there's been a supply-induced shortage of the dish at some of their branches. Our saving grace, if you will, came in the form of the recent news that they'd be serving Mojo-flavored fries at some stores for the time being. But how do they fare?

Can the Mojo-flavored fries sate our Shakey's Mojos cravings?
ICYMI, Shakey's recently announced that they'll serve Mojo flavored fries as a "substitute" for Mojos at some of their stores, citing "global supply constraints." That's a pretty tall order for the fries to have to fulfill, as Mojos are one of the pizza chain's best-loved signatures. We had to give them a try.
The good news? Taste-wise, they're exactly like mojos: a tad spiced, nicely savory, and so damn good with anything—the fried chicken, of course, being a natural pair. Heck, our Managing Editor Pat Villarica admits she likes them even better than the OG Mojos. With a higher surface area, you get more of those crispy edges—cue toasty, spiced flavor and crunchy bite. It's less starchy, too, and the (deceptively) smaller size makes it harder to resist going back for another piece (and another, and another).
What can we say? We're hooked. Granted, the Mojos retain their space in our hearts as the GOAT—but we're not mad at this sub either. Far from it.
Shakey's is a pizza chain from the U.S. that was founded in 1954. In the Philippines, they're best known not just for their pizza, but also their crispy-juicy fried chicken and Mojos.
