(SPOT.ph) After a hard day's toil, office workers would often head out and grab a bite to eat along with a bottle or two of beer and other tipples. While the Ortigas area is never short of bars and pubs to destress after work, one of the OGs and crowd-favorite spots to hit up is Brotzeit in Shangri-La Plaza. But today, we just got word that the Shangri-La Plaza watering hole is about to bid farewell. We talked with Brotzeit PH to get the lowdown on this game-changing news in Ortigas' drinking scene.

Here's what we know about the last few weeks of the Shangri-La branch of German restaurant Brotzeit:
In a post on its social-media pages, Brotzeit calls on its patrons to enjoy the last few weeks at Shangri La Plaza, its first-ever branch in the Philippines that opened in 2013. "[It's] the end of an era and the beginning of Brotzeit's great new journey in Ortigas," the post reads. The bittersweet announcement's been met with mixed reactions on social media, where regulars lament the closure but at the same time are excited for what's to come.
Speaking to SPOT.ph, Brotzeit confirmed that they are indeed closing their OG branch this coming April 30 but have maintained that they are "deeply grateful for the decade together" with Shangri La Plaza. When asked about their new location, Brotzeit remains hush-hush about the details but has ensured SPOT.ph that we should expect the new branch to open within the year.
For now, those looking to sate their German beer and Bavarian cuisine hankerings can do so at their BGC and Alabang West Parade branches.
Brotzeit's story goes back to 2006 when they brought German cuisine and its distinctive beer culture to Singapore. Fast forward seven years later, in 2013, they opened their first Philippine store at Shangri La Plaza. Since then, Brotzeit has offered world-famous German beers accompanied by authentic Bavarian Cuisine in a chic and contemporary setting and is famous for annual epic festivals such as Oktoberfest and the weekly cheering for your favorite Bundesliga team or your gathering with friends and family to discover authentic German cuisine.
