(SPOT.ph) Tokyo Banana is the most requested souvenir when one travels to Japan, aside from the usual one-of-a-kind flavored chocolates. For those who weren't part of the crowd that got to book a flight to Japan during cherry blossom season and bring home boxes of Tokyo Banana, fret not—there's a way to cure your dessert FOMO away.

Mitsukoshi Fresh, the supermarket of MITSUKOSHI BGC, recently restocked their freezer of Tokyo Banana products. Yes, Mitsukoshi Fresh has one glass-top freezer dedicated to Tokyo Banana alone.

Mitsukoshi Fresh restocks the "The No. 1 Japanese souvenir," Tokyo Banana:

When MITSUKOSHI BGC announced they were opening its doors to the public last November, it created a huge buzz for bringing in different Japanese brands, most of which were never available elsewhere in the Philippines. This included Tokyo Banana, a.k.a. "The no. 1 Japanese souvenir," which they sold at their namesake supermarket Mitsukoshi Fresh.

If you aren't Mitsukoshi Fresh sells the Tokyo Banana at P1,060/eight pieces and P560/four pieces. This is slightly more expensive than the price it was sold at when the supermarket opened, which was P1,050.

Need to justify your thousand-peso dessert purchase? The regular price of Tokyo Banana in Japan is Y1,188 and when converted to local currency is P489. Yes, it's more than double its price if you buy it from Japan but booking a roundtrip flight to Japan would even be more expensive.

If you went to Mitsukoshi Fresh for a box of Tokyo Banana during the first few weeks since it opened and have never visited the grocery since, you won't find the yellow boxes in the same open freezer together with the petit fours. The boxes of Tokyo Banana are semi-hidden in a glass-top freezer in the supermarket.
