10 Discontinued Food Items That Can Emotionally Transport You to Better Days

(SPOT.ph) Food has always had the power to make us feel strong emotions in response to its taste. While we can react to something new to our palate, the strongest emotions come from the tastes that are connected to our past. It's the nostalgia, the comfort, and the familiarity that transports us to a happy memory, much like that scene from Ratatouille.

In what started with a Tweet from user @__Miggyy, people have collectively gone down memory lane through shared photos of food that are sorely missed as these no longer exist.

Here are 10 discontinued food items from the good ol' days that Twitter users are missing:

Nestle Premium Melon Milk

Before we had the likes of Binggrae's fruity milk which only came in the smallest juice boxes, we had big bottles of Nestle's Premium Dairy in Succulent Melon flavor as an integral part of our childhood. It was a sweet and fruity kind of milk we could drink without throwing a fit back in our younger days.

Nestle Pops

Nestle Pop was one of the ice creams that '90s kids loved. It came in red containers, the chocolate shell didn't easily melt, and the vanilla ice cream inside was good. It wasn't messy to eat and even if you probably didn't want to, the Pops can easily be shared.

E-aji Dip Snax

Fries were, and still are if we're completely being honest, an expensive snack, and E-aji Dip Snax was the cheaper version that fits most kids' school allowance. It was available as nachos or "fries" (not actual potato fries) and it came with a small container for the dip, which often was not enough for the entire bag of snacks.

Monde Tini Wini Cookies

Tini Wini cookies have the unmistakable, distinct packaging of this bright blue container with a smiling crocodile on the front. It gets its name from the size of the cookies, which are no bigger than a coin. Sure there are many other cookies that have the similar taste, but none can really come close.

Granny Goose Kornets

One of the greatest losses in the snacking world was Granny Goose's Kornets. It wasn't just a delicious corn chip snack, but it was also fun to eat too. Because are you really eating Kornets if you aren't putting each piece on your finger and pretending you have claws?

Jollibee Big Burger Steak

"This will always be Jollibee's worst decision." Strong words, but no words have ever felt this true. When Jollibee removed the Champ burger from the menu, the Big Burger Steak followed as it uses the same hefty burger patty. The only alternative is to replicate it by ordering the regular Burger Steak and ordering it with a side of Jolly Fries.

McDonald's Green Apple McFloat

McDonald's Green Apple McFloat was one of the many flavors the fast food chain introduced in its McFloat Summer Medley line. This was launched back in 2012 (yes, it's been more than a decade), and the line included other flavors such as Blueberry, Four Seasons, and Honey Banana.

Chowking Beef Brisket

If there's one thing from the discontinued Chowking menu items people will petition for a comeback, it has to be their Braised Beef Brisket. This was a simple stew that had soft, tender beef chunks served on white rice. And if our memory serves us right, it  didn't really matter that there wasn't a lot of beef in each bowl as this was the perfect representation of "sauce pa lang, ulam na."

KFC Krushers

If you were to tally the responses from the original Tweet, the KFC Krushes is one of the most mentioned items. For a time, KFC launched several flavors of the ice-blended drink and the most famous ones are the Strawberry Banana Yoghurt Krush and the Kookies n' Kream.

Greenwich Baked Rice

We don't blame you if you were blinded by Greenwhich's pizzas and lasagna, but you truly missed out if you've never tried their line of baked rice melt. The more popular was the Chicken Ala King, and while for those who experienced eating this dish always comes with a painful burn on the tongue, it's the kind of pain anyone is willing to go through if it means it will make its much-awaited comeback.
