Lechon Spot Zubuchon's Metro Manila Branches Are Closing

(SPOT.ph) Cebu's Zubuchon has gained fame over the years for their clean-tasting yet indulgent lechon—so much so that it's earned the praise of the late Anthony Bourdain. Fans of the roasted pig in Manila were thus elated as they opened their first Manila branch in Makati in 2017, and went on to open more outposts within the Metro in the years that followed. Had the privilege of dining in their premises? You'll want to keep those lechon memories close to your heart—or rush to the branch nearest you if you've never been—as Zubuchon will be closing all their branches in Manila.

Here's the deal on the Manila branches of Zubuchon closing:

Zubuchon's Joel Binamira, also known as Marketman, posted the news on his public Instagram page. "It’s time to move on… Zubuchon will be closing down its huge commissary and all restaurant branches in Manila this August," he writes, including the closing dates for each currently-open Manila location:

• Zubuchon Southmall: August 13
• Zubuchon Eton Centris: August 18
• Zubuchon The Rise: August 25
• Zubuchon Megamall: August 28

"We feel Zubuchon has achieved many of its original goals over the last 14 years, but a pandemic (through which we supported as many staff as possible), an extremely disruptive ASF [slash] Swine Flu pandemic (we only use local backyard raised pigs for lechon), absurd commodity prices and other issues have made us rethink our desire to invest in any further expansion," the blogger, business owner, and cook writes.

Fret not; Zubuchon will still have its branches in Cebu open, so you can still get your fix whenever you're in the area. "A majority of our Manila team [has] been placed in other good positions even before we post this announcement," Binamira adds.

"Drop by one of our branches soon to grab that last Zubuchon meal in Manila. Or we’ll see you in Cebu sometime soon! Thank you for your patronage over the years!"
