All the Restaurants We're Saying Goodbye to in Greenbelt 2
Don't worry, it's a "goodbye for now" type of situation.
(SPOT.ph) If you've been around Makati City's Greenbelt area, specifically around Greenbelt 2, you might have noticed the space getting quieter and less energetic as of late. All around the mall, shops are boarded up and more restaurants are clearing out. Should we be worried about our favorite restaurants leaving Makati? Worry not: we've got the lowdown on what to expect on your next visit to Ayala Mall's Greenbelt 2 in the coming months.

Here are the restaurants that are leaving Greenbelt 2 this 2024:
Greenbelt 2 has long been one of Greenbelt's most food-centric phases and, as such, has always been one of the liveliest areas in the whole complex. So it's quite jarring to see it quiet and boarded up.
But don't be alarmed. In a social media post, Ayala Malls Greenbelt clarified that this is not goodbye, but a see you again. "Your favorite Greenbelt 2 restaurants are growing with us! Stay tuned for more details," the post says, accompanied by a poster informing patrons that Greenbelt is "evolving" soon.
In a statement provided to SPOT.ph, Ayala Mall's representatives confirmed that the mall will be undergoing renovations. "We are excited to embark on this transformative journey in Greenbelt, and we are set to refine our customers' retail experience. Please stay tuned as we further unfold our plans along with our old and new merchants," reads the statement.
It's mildly comforting to know that workers and residents around the shopping complex won't have to say goodbye to their favorites and might actually welcome new outposts after all the changes. Still, it's best to be armed with knowledge on what's closed for now. Here's a list of restaurants you'll no longer see in the Greenbelt 2 area:
Café Mary Grace
Mary Grace Café in Greenbelt 2 was the brand's flagship store for 12 years. According to Mary Grace Foods' Director Adrian Dimacali's Facebook post, GB (as the branch is fondly called) opened in May 2011 and was the brand's strongest branch for years despite their growing footprint across the country. The branch permanently closed on January 2 of this year.
Where to find it for now: Café Mary Grace has a number of branches in Makati City. Those in the Ayala area can still visit Café Mary Grace branches in SM Makati, Century City Mall, Enterprise Center, and Rockwell PowerPlant. A full list of Mary Grace branches is available online.
Cyma
Cyma is a well-loved Greek restaurant helmed by Chef Robby Goco, praised for its selection of mezze, salads, grilled mains, and more. Its Greenbelt 2 store, too, will be closing, but fret not: they'll be opening at Greenbelt 5 in the second quarter of 2024, Goco says in an exchange with SPOT.ph.
Where to find it for now: Visit their other branches at Shangri-La, Trinoma, and Eastwood.
Watami
Watami is a casual Japanese restaurant that specializes in grilled eats and sushi. It is a part of the Bistro Group of Restaurants, the same company that brought us favorites like Olive Garden, TGIFridays, Italliani's, and many other food concepts. Watami ceased operations in their Greenbelt 2 branch on December 31, 2023.
Where to find it for now: Watami has branches in Uptown Mall BGC, Shangri-la Plaza, and the UP Town Center.
SUGI Japanese Restaurant
SUGI Japanese Restaurant is a family-owned Japanese restaurant that's been serving traditional Japanese eats for almost 40 years now. They'll be ceasing operations in Greenbelt 2 (their only currently open branch) starting Sunday, February 4, 2024. But don't you worry: you won't be saying goodbye to SUGI for long as they've just announced they're moving to the nearby Garden Towers along Palm Drive.
Where to find it for now: It is still open in Greenbelt 2 until February 4. It will soon open a new branch at Garden Towers, Palm Drive.
Italianni's
Where to find it for now: There are numerous Italianni's branches in the Metro. For those looking for their Italian fix in the Makati Area, visit Italianni's branches in Glorietta 4 and The Shops at Ayala Triangle Gardens. You can also expect a new Greenbelt 5 Italianni's branch to open in 2024.
8 Cuts
Where to find it for now: Representatives from the Moment Group have informed SPOT.ph that there are no plans to open a new location for 8 Cuts in Makati as of writing. They will, however, open in another business district sometime soon. Guests looking for their 8Cuts Burger fix in Makati can visit their Salcedo Outpost for now.
Manam
Where to find it for now: Manam recently opened their newest and flagship branch at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. But that's not the only place in Makati where you can get your Manam Paboritos. Guests looking for their Filipino signatures can also head to Manam's branches in Glorietta and Rockwell. Representatives from the Moment Group also teased an upcoming new branch in Greenbelt 3 near another Moment Group restaurant, Ooma.
Bloom Cafe + Bar
Where to find it for now: As of writing Bloom Cafe + Bar has yet to release a statement regarding their plans after their Greenbelt 2 closure.
Bizu Patisserie and Bistro
Greenbelt 2 was home to one of the two bistro branches of the Bizu chain—distinct from other Bizu Patisserie and Cafe branches that serve mostly desserts and pastries. Here, aside from a selection of sweets, they've also got savory dishes from breakfast to dinner.
Where to find it for now: While there are a number of Bizu Patisserie and Cafe branches around the Metro, the only other Bizu Bistro is at Greenhills Promenade in San Juan. As of writing, Bizu has yet to disclose its plans following its closure at Greenbelt 2.
The Wholesome Table
The Wholesome Table serves a international comfort eats made with organic, sustainably sourced ingredients. Whether you're looking for sweets to cap off a meal or savory bites to fill you up, The Wholesome Table features a wide variety of dishes that can cater to wide-ranging dietary preferences.
Where to find it for now: You can still visit The Wholesome Table branches in BGC and Salcedo.
Barcino
Barcino is a Spanish wine and tapas bar known for its their paella and sangria. Barcino Greenbelt 2 has been open for almost 13 years prior to its closure in early January 2024.
Where to find it for now: Those looking for a quiet night of tapas, wine, and sangria can head over to nearby Barcino branches in Power Plant Mall, Uptown Parade, and SM Aura.
