(SPOT.ph) If you're tired of getting samgyeopsal for your weekly dose of Korean cuisine, why not visit your nearest Shake Shack branch instead? Yep, you've read that right. We're talking about the American burger joint that's been in the country for a few years now. They've explored different cuisines in the past and now they're bringing back a crowd-fave, the Gochujang Chicken Sandwich and the Gochujang Fries. It's been a while since they made these menu items available—last time was in 2021, in fact!—so we're giving you all you need to know about it.

Here's what we think of the Korean-inspired menu items of Shake Shack:

For those unfamiliar with gochujang, it's a popular fermented ingredient used in Korean cooking. The paste is made from red chilli peppers, sticky rice, fermented soybeans, and salt. Taste-wise, it's spicy but a little sweet and has a mean umami punch.

Shake Shack's Gochujang Chicken Sandwich (P370) is as "packed" as can be. It comes with a good-sized portion of crispy chicken breast that's soft and tender, toasted sesame seeds, and a white kimchi slaw for your dose of greens. Taste-wise, your first bite starts off as sweet then a kick of spice. How much heat, you ask? Well, to be honest, not much but that only means those who can't handle their spice will most likely be able to appreciate the flavors that the gochujang brings to the table.

Next up is the Gochujang Fries (P275). A Korean take on their popular Cheese Fries, this version uses a spicy-sweet gochujang mayo as the sauce. Compared to the chicken sandwich, the fries has a buildable heat. Perhaps, it's because of the constant devouring of the crinkle cut fries that's causing it. It also has bits of bacon for extra flavor.

With all the heat that comes with this meal, a refreshing dessert is a must to help cool you down. Not a new menu or returning menu item but a crowd favorite nonetheless, the Berry Bituin (P270) acts as a great palate cleanser with its tangy frozen strawberries, the chunks of milk chocolate, and the premium vanilla soft serve.

Officially, there's no telling until when the gochujang menu items are available but a quick question to one of the staffmembers have it confirmed that the Korea-inspired munchies are available until April.
