(SPOT.ph) Dining at Wolfgang's Steakhouse is notoriously on the pricey side, which has rightfully earned it the image of being a treat-yo'-self sort of spot. For times when you do feel the need for a treat but are pinching pennies, there's the fantastic compromise that is their Happy Hour sets, priced below P2,000 per head and available at selected hours of the day. Great news: the steakhouse has just come out with an updated version that stars USDA Prime Angus beef in varying flavor expressions, inspired by Filipino favorites.

Wolfgang's Steakhouse new Happy Hour menu
Called What's Your Beef, this new menu by Wolfgang's Chef Chris Oronce and Chef Ed Bugia of Flipside Burgers highlights USDA Prime Black Angus beef, known for having ample marbling and great beefy flavor. This is available from Mondays to Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Wolfgang's Steakhouse's bar and al-fresco areas. Choose from their two sets (the selection changes depending on the day); each has four savory plates, a dessert, and drinks (P1,988/set with three beverages, P2,188/set with four beverages). You can add an additional plate for just P348 a pop.
The first set, available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, begins with a small yet satisfying Smash Burger boasting crisp-juicy smashed patties, served with duck fat truffle fries, smoked onion rings, and dill pickles. Sinuglaw follows; Wolfgang's variation of the Visayan dish replaces the typical pork with lightly seared USDA Prime hanger steak, accompanied by succulent slices of tuna. The Pinoy BBQ Skewers follows, celebrating the Filipino love for a smoky, juicy stick of barbecue. From there, you get the Manila Pares, featuring braised USDA Prime short ribs, a vessel of soup, garlic rice, and their own chili condiment for spiking your spoonfuls. Dessert is an Ice Cream Sundae topped with chocolate-covered bacon—we did say you're here to treat yourself after all.
For the second set, available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, you'll also be starting with the Smash Burger to kick off the meal. The Wolfgang's team then brings out the Bistek-Style Tataki with the savory, subtly acidic flavors of the original, then proceeds to serving Bitterballen—essentially breaded meatballs of Dutch origin, made locally apt by Wolfgang as it's paired with a mechado-style sauce. The big gun in this set is the Burger Steak, complete with fried rice and an egg a la Hawaiian loco moco. This set also ends with Wolfgang's Ice Cream Sundae.
The beverage selection for this Happy Hour set is designed to complement its meaty, deeply savory flavors, revolving around beer. We recommend going for their beer cocktails (the Dalandan Shandy and Cerveza Espresso Martini are the author's top picks), but they've got San Miguel bottled and draft beers, too.
