(SPOT.ph) No. 8 China House is Grand Hyatt Manila’s take on upscale Chinese dining. But don’t worry, they keep things relaxed and approachable. There’s even an open kitchen setup so you can watch the chefs work their magic—especially at the wood-fired ovens and dim sum stations. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for family feasts, business lunches, or just treating yourself to some seriously good Chinese food with a bit of flair.

No. 8 China House Best Sellers
Peking Duck
There are a lot of places where you can get Peking Duck (P3,088 for half, P5,688 for whole) in Metro Manila, but none do it quite as well as No. 8 China House. They take things up a notch with a wood-fired oven fueled with mango wood, giving the golden duck a more fragrant edge. You can enjoy the first round the traditional (and unbeatable) way with the delicate pancakes, hoisin sauce, and scallions, then choose your second round for P668. Our favorite wa is to have it fried for crisp goodness.
Steamed Live Grouper
In the mood for something light but still packed with flavor? Go for the live spotted grouper—fresh from the restaurant’s own tanks. It’s steamed to perfection with Sichuan pepper, soy sauce, and chili, giving the delicate fish just the right amount of heat and a subtle, numbing tingle. Don’t let its simple appearance fool you. This dish is a masterclass in balance, with the clean, buttery taste of the grouper lifted by bold, aromatic flavors.
Dim Sum
Two words: unlimited dim sum. (Or is that three?) Whatever the case, No. 8 China House turns into an absolute dream during lunch time with their “Dim Sum Unbound” deal. For P1,688 per person, you can eat as much dim sum as you want on Mondays to Fridays from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Take your pick from a wide array of Cantonese classics—siu mai, har gow, xiao long bao, and pan-fried turnip cake, to name a few.
No. 8 China House Tips
Come with a group (or a big appetite).
The menu at No. 8 China House is designed for sharing, which makes it the perfect spot for family gatherings, group lunches, or dinner with friends. Many of the dishes come in generous portions—think whole roast duck, big plates of stir-fried noodles, and hearty bowls of fried rice—so the more people at the table, the more variety you get to try. Bringing a crew means you can build a proper Chinese feast and sample a little bit of everything.
Ask the staff for pairing suggestions.
Not sure what goes best with Peking duck? Wondering which noodle dish to try with your seafood pick? Just ask! The staff at No. 8 China House are more than happy to help you navigate the menu. They can recommend crowd favorites, offer tips on how to enjoy certain dishes (like wrapping your duck in the pancake just right), or help you build a balanced lineup that hits all the right notes.
Do Dress Up a Bit
No. 8 China House isn’t overly fancy, but it does sit inside the Grand Hyatt, so there’s a refined, polished vibe to the place. Think smart casual—something you’d wear for a nice lunch, date night, or business dinner. You don’t need to show up in formalwear, but hey, here’s your chance to finally wear that gorgeous ‘fit you’ve had at the back of your closet for a while now.
