(SPOT.ph) Are you and your special someone looking for some romance? Skip the chocolate and flowers and simply book a table in one of the Metro’s best steakhouses. After all, what better way to impress your date than by indulging in a fine piece of steak and vino? From traditional steakhouses to more modern ones, there's an ideal romantic restaurant for you and your S.O.

Here are 10 romantic steakhouses where you and your date can wine and dine:

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

With hardwood floors, upholstered seats, white tablecloths, and a classic wooden bar, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse has the vibe of an upscale chophouse. This New York original by Wolfgang Zwiener has been around since 1912, and since then, they’ve served their dry-aged USDA Prime Grade Black Angus Beef that has superior marbling, tenderness, and flavor. You might think you need to break the bank when dining here, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised with their new set meals that come complete with steak, sides, and dessert. Get a Taste of New York (P2,750), a set that comes with USDA Prime Dry-Aged Sirloin Steak, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and New York-style cheesecake. Or better yet, why not try A Taste of Manila (P2,750) that features the same cut of meat, but is paired with steak rice and calamansi sorbet? Pair your meal with a glass of red or cocktail for a night to remember.

Ruby Jack’s Steakhouse & Bar

Step inside the big wooden doors at Ruby Jack’s and you’ll be floored by the spacious dining area with high ceilings, Italian chairs, comfy booths, and a glass-cased wine cellar in the background. There’s a sort of understated grandeur and utmost seclusion that makes Ruby Jack’s a perfect date setting. Since the steakhouse is originally from Tokyo, you can expect the menu to have Japanese influences. Start with a tasty aphrodisiac, the Rockefeller (P290) or oysters cooked with spinach and cheese. You can’t go wrong with Japanese Wagyu, which they get from the southern island of Kushu. Go all out with the Premium A5 Saga Wagyu Sirloin (P6,700/300g). Do you want to woo your S.O. after a particularly bad fight? Treat your date by topping off their steak with Teppan Grilled Foie Gras (P600) and they won’t be able to stay mad any longer. Cap off a great dinner with a Dessert Wine (P700) or your choice of libations from the well-stocked bar.

Ruby Jack’s Steakhouse & Bar is at UG/F, City of Dreams Manila, Aseana Avenue corner Macapagal Avenue, Entertainment City, Parañaque City

House of Wagyu Stone Grill

PHOTO BY House of Wagyu Facebook page

If you’re looking for a middle ground between casual and fine dining then House of Wagyu should be it. It’s the type of restaurant where you’re not expected to formally dress up but can still do so if you want to. What’s unique about this steak place is that they serve your steak still cooking on a hot stone grill, so you have some control over the doneness of your steak. The Top Sirloin Grade 10 (P2,950/350g) is already good for two and already comes with soup, vegetables, and potato sides. Whichever doneness you prefer—we, of course, recommend medium-rare—you will get tender beef with generous marbling that only comes from Wagyu.

La Cabrera

Expect a different kind of steak night at Argentinian steakhouse La Cabrera. For one, this trendy establishment mixes romantic elegance and casual coziness with an eye-catching chandelier made of hanging kitchen tools, and an open kitchen with a charcoal grill to boot. Treat your date to a traditional Argentine experience by sampling the Provoleta (P890), grilled Provolone cheese, for your appetizer. Then indulge in the Ojo de Bife (P3,995/500g), grass-fed rib-eye steak imported from Argentina. An order of any of their steaks is already good for sharing, and all you need is a glass of Lagarde Malbec (P525/glass) that comes from Argentina’s oldest wineries. Plus, all steaks come with unlimited side dishes. The caramelized garlic is a good pick—though you may want to hold off on the garlic until after the first date (just saying!).

La Cabrera is at Mezzanine Level, Tower Wing, EDSA Shangri-La, 1 Garden Way, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City; and Ayala Business Center, 6750 Ayala Avenue, Glorietta, Makati City.

CRU Steakhouse

CRU Steakhouse has a chic old-fashioned vibe with their half-circle booths and heavy upholstered seats. The best seat in the house for an intimate dinner? We say it's in one of their high-backed booths, which offer some privacy and a great view of the state-of-the-art open kitchen. While watching the chefs in action, tease your palate with the CRU Appetizer Sampler - Signature (P990), which has bite-sized servings of yellowfin tuna, crab cake, and goose liver, among others. The piece de resistance is their selection of hand-cut, dry-aged steaks. The US Certified Angus Beef Prime Rib Steak (P6,100/900g) is sure to be the highlight of your night. An order includes your choice of sides and two sauces, and is carved tableside. Just make sure you and your date dress to the nines as they have a strict dress code—meaning no slippers or shorts!

Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar

Your S.O. will forget any beef they may have with you once you bring them to Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar. This steakhouse at Shangri-La at the Fort offers a good assortment of prime beef from around the world—U.S., Australia, and Ireland. Spoil yourself with the grain-fed T-Bone Wagyu MS5+ (P7,450/800 grams), which is more than enough for two. All the steaks are expertly cooked in a Josper grill, a combination of a grill and an oven for tender steak that cuts like butter. If you really want to wow your date, you could add a topping to your steak like seared foie gras (P415/60g) or a half Boston lobster (P1,750). Whether or not you do so, you’ll both enjoy the fancy retro ambience that will make you want to linger for after-dinner drinks. They offer a wide selection of whiskey, gin, cocktails, rum, wine, and beer; all that’s left to do is to choose your poison.

Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar is at 3/F West Wing, Shangri-La at the Fort, 30th Street corner 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City.

Highlands Bistro

With wooden walls, furnishings, and a gray stone fireplace, Highlands Bistro feels like you’re at a lodge in the mountainside abroad. Warm your belly with the creamy Boston Clam Chowder (P200) before going straight to the mouthwatering beef. Go for the classic US Certified Angus Slow Roasted Prime Rib (P1,620/10oz; P3,240/20oz), with fork-tender beef served with garlic mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Looking to make the night last longer? Have a nightcap before heading home. Highlands in Estancia has a secret entrance to Churchill—it’s right next to the fireplace, but don’t tell anyone we said so!

Highlands Bistro is at G/F North Wing, Estancia, Capitol Commons, Oranbo, Pasig City.

Melo’s is an institution when it comes to high-quality Angus beef steaks, having been around since 1987. The homegrown steakhouse's interiors have a timeless appeal with an elegant, contemporary vibe. If you're dining at their QC branch, get a table with a beautiful garden view for an extra romantic dinner. Go on a gastronomic adventure by ordering one of the cuts with the highest marbling in the world, Saga Beef Ribeye (P988/oz). Ordering is done via their steak cart, where you have the option to choose your preferred cut and thickness of steak.

Melo’s has branches at 58 Sergeant Esguerra Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City; Forbes Town Center, 29th Street, Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City; and Westgate Center, Filinvest City, Muntinlupa City.

Sage Bespoke Grill

You can expect nothing less than posh at this swanky hotel establishment. The contemporary interiors are complemented by premium leather seats and tasteful décor with dim lighting for a more romantic atmosphere. The menu is pretty simple and straightforward, but you can be sure that anything you order is excellent. Make a very good impression on a first date by ordering the Alaskan King Crab Ceviche (P1,350), a refreshing starter. Then have the Ribeye (P4,300/250g), grain-fed Wagyu MS5 from Australia with generous marbling—every order includes your choice of side dish and sauce.
