Cupid Goes Culinary: Valentine's Treats You Can Get Now

And they're not all limited to Hearts' Day!

( Love is in the air and whether or not you're in the mood for it is irrelevant. February 14 is nigh, and it's pretty fascinating what you can get around this time of the year, but you can bet on any one of three things: It'll be pink or red, it'll be made of chocolate, or it'll be heart-shaped.

But if your intention is to make Valentine’s Day that much brighter for a friend who’s gone through a recent heartbreak, food is usually a good answer.

Here are 10 sweet treats for Valentine's Day:

Chocolate Lipsticks from Shangri-La at the Fort (P150/single, P850/box of five)

PHOTO BY Shangri-La at the Fort

We don’t want to limit this gift to women, largely because it must be oddly satisfying to bite off what looks like a tube of lipstick. (Or is that just us?) Plus, if you’re celebrating Galentine’s instead—and you have until February 15—the box set is perfect for you and your plus four.

Available at Shangri-La at the Fort, 30th Street corner 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City.

Browned Butter Dark Chocolate Cookies from Manu Mano (P225/box of six)

The use of Auro’s 55% Dark Chocolate makes these cookies more than appropriate for V-Day, while the unbleached flour and browned butter give an almost smoky bite. The sprinkle of salt brings it all over the top—we know we're still looking to get a box or two. Try not to hoard, even though they’re only available until Feburary 15.

Manu Mano is at 755 Banawe Street corner Scout Alcaraz Street, Quezon City.

Red Velvet Dream Cake from Le Sucre Lab (P595)

The Dream Cake is a popular go-to, so this version is perfect for the red-velvet enthusiast in your life—whether or not they’ll share it with you is another matter entirely.

Ruby Kokoa Chizu from FRNK (P165/small, P195/tall)

This one’s a simple gesture if you're doing it for someone else—the classic flavors of chocolate and berries truly embody love month, and this is one treat that won’t leave the recipient feeling too guilty about what they’re eating. It’s the go-to for those who want to acknowledge the holiday but not linger on it, so it’s really perfect for most level-headed people. The good news is this isn’t actually a Valentine’s special—it’s available until March 31.

FRNK Milk Bar has branches at Glorietta 3 and Bonifacio High Street. See a list of FRNK branches.

Pink Sushi Cake from Sushi Nori (P1,299)

Sushi Nori's V-Day cake is just the thing for those who aren't into desserts: It has seven salmon roses, oborotamago, and more salmon mixed with teriyaki sauce for a savory-sweet profile. Don't feel like sushi for the 14th? It's available until the end of February.

Sushi Nori has branches at SM Aura Premier and SM Megamall. See a list of Sushi Nori branches.

Valentine’s Day Cupcakes by M Bakery

M Bakery’s more than reliable when it comes to the sweets. And if, for some reason, you’re really pushing the boat out for Cupid’s field day, cupcakes (or cupcake arrangements) are the way to go. Keep it classic with Rose Cupcakes (P165/each), Red Velvet Cupcakes (P190/each), or a box of Vanilla and Chocolate Mini Cupcakes (P840/dozen). What did we tell you? Easy.

M Bakery is at G/F One Bonifacio High Street Mall, 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City.

Cacao Lovers Collection from Serenitea (in collaboration with Auro Chocolate)

You didn’t think we’d run through a list of treats without including a milk-tea establishment, did you? We’re glad this line of chocolate drinks isn’t specifically for V-Day—they'll have these until April 9—because if something’s called Cacao Cookie Brulée (P185/medium, P200/large), you know we’re all over it. Want to go simpler? The Cacao Frost (P150/medium, P165/large) should be more familiar, made with Serenitea’s signature frost.

Serenitea has branches at SM Megamall and Robinsons Place Manila. See a list of Serenitea branches. For more information, log on to Auro Chocolate's Facebook page.

Pink and Roses Chocolate Chiffon Cake form Goldilocks (P450)

Does anything scream Valentine's more than this cake? It's got pink. It's got roses. It's got chocolate. It's freaking heart-shaped. They manage to keep it light by making the base out of chiffon, but that doesn't mean you can throw caution to the wind. If you're buying it because you're single, remember that misery loves company. (Don't eat this by yourself, we beg of you!)

Goldilocks has branches at Ali Mall and SM Megamall. See a list of Goldilocks branches.

Valentine Strawberry Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme (P270/box of six)

Order this in advance so you can either present your S.O. with a Krispy Kreme-themed tin full of strawberry-filled, heart-shaped doughnuts, or have it show up at their door. Throw in a bouquet and you’re set! (At least until the next argument.)

Krispy Kreme has branches at Robinsons Forum and Power Plant Mall. See a list of Krispy Kreme branches.

Chocolate Obsession Cake from Conti’s (P795)

PHOTO BY Conti's Bakeshop & Restaurant

Chocolate-on-chocolate-on-chocolate is just the sort of thing to get anyone’s motor running. Look at those layers! Sadly, this multi-tiered marvel is a limited-edition cake, but if you get one from February 13 to 16, they throw in a teddy bear.

Conti's Bakeshop has branches at Robinsons Magnolia and Greenbelt 2. See a list of Conti’s branches.

Valentine's Ice Cream from Papa Diddi's

In the end, February 14th just another day, but if you're really low, Papa Diddi's helps you go through all the stages of a relationship with the flavors Attraction (mint-chocolate), Dating (strawberry cheesecake), and Disappointment (whiskey-chocolate). Sure, there's Commitment and Stability flavors, too, but we're pretty partial to Attraction, TBH.

Papa Diddi's Handcrafted Ice Cream has branches at Poblacion Food Park and Sikatuna Village. See a list of Papa Diddi's branches.

Valentine's Pizza Perfect Pair from Yellow Cab (P699)

We cannot emphasize this enough: If you don't have a date, that's fine. It's not a determination of your worth as a person. But—and this is a big "but"—if you really want to throw a pity party, pizza is the answer. Pizza is always the answer. With Yellow Cab, you can get the Pizza Perfect Pair, which includes four pieces each of the Hot Chix and Sweet Soy Wings, a nine-inch Manhattan Meatlovers and BBQ Chicken Pizza, and an ice cream of your choice. You can get this bundle from February 10 to 14, but please—call a friend, too.

Yellow Cab has branches at Ayala Malls the 30th, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City and SM Cubao, P. Tuazon Boulevard, Quezon City. For more information, log on to Yellow Cab Pizza Co's Facebook page.

Macaron de Paris from Bizu (P75/piece, P595/box of eight, P1,045/box of 14)

Is it really a 21st-century Valentine's without macarons? Even those without that big a sweet tooth say yes to the meringue-based confections. This year, Bizu's partnered up with Malagos Chocolate to bring you a strawberry-chocolate-praline sweet that doesn't discriminate—whether you treat yourself or someone else to these, somebody's going to walk away happy.

Bizu Patisserie has branches at Promenade Greenhills and Greenbelt 2. See a list of Bizu Patisserie branches.
