Our Fave Gelato Spot Now Makes Sapin-Sapin Gelato and It's A+ Stuff
It's a parfait in a pint.
The Best Sapin-Sapin Parfait Gelato, Leche Flan, and Buko Pandan Cake
(SPOT.ph) If you've ever sunk your teeth into sapin-sapin, you'll know what we're talking about when we speak poetic about its distinctly chewy, sticky character and one-of-a-kind flavor. No wonder it's one of the first to disappear whenever a bilao of it is present at any gathering! We'll always love straight-up sapin-sapin, but we can never say no to spinoff treats inspired by the said rice cake—and we recently tried one that made us swoon. Local gelateria Manila Creamery recently came out with Sapin-Sapin Parfait Gelato just in time for the holidays, and we're in love!
Manila Creamery's Sapin-Sapin Parfait Gelato is a parfait in a pint, with alternating layers of ube, langka, and coconut suman gelato plus a sweet and nutty coconut sugar crumble. You get a coconut-milk heavy flavor with hints of purple yam and jackfruit, and the whole thing manages to not be too sweet. The texture is also remarkable—in true Manila Creamery fashion, it's smooth and creamy as can be without weighing you down. You can get a pint for P380.
Manila Creamery's also got other new gelato flavors this Christmas season. There's the Leche Flan Gelato (P360/pint, P999/half-gallon), an especially silky-smooth and rich-tasting variant with caramel custard gelato given a hint of dayap juice for a zesty contrast. Love the subtly nutty flavor of pandan? Go for the Buko Pandan Cake Gelato (P360/pint, P999/half-gallon), which has coconut-pandan sorbet with pandan tres leches cake and buko strips mixed in. And if you're all for the spiced character of carrot cake, they've also got the Carrot Cake Gelato (P360/pint, P999/half-gallon) with cream-cheese gelato, carrot cake, and walnuts.
You can get your fix of these gelatos by ordering through Manila Creamery's website. They deliver around Metro Manila in three to five working days (Saturdays included), and accept payments via Paypal, bank deposit (BDO, BPI, and Security Bank), and GCash.
Manila Creamery is a local gelato spot that was established in 2015. They began as an independent purveyor that did weekly pop-ups at bazaars before opening their very own shop at the UP Town Center in 2016, and eventually expanding to open branches at Alabang Town Center, SM Megamall, and Vertis North. They also happen to be our favorite gelato spot in Manila!
If you're looking to fill up with a savory meal before partaking in their gelato, why not go for mac and cheese? Our favorite versions in Manila include those by Wildflour and Mama Lou's.
