Last Chance: Holy Smokes BBQ Is Having a Pop-Up in Poblacion
No time for what-ifs when it comes to these stellar meats.
(SPOT.ph) If there's one spot in Manila that's blown us away with their meaty eats in the past years, it's Holy Smokes BBQ—their grilled, slow-cooked, and/or smoked carnivorous provisions are truly some of the best in town, and even starters and sides like salads and empanadas are given justice in their kitchen. The local spot has been through quite the rollercoaster over the course of the pandemic—from relocating to Quezon City in 2020 to moving back to Poblacion in 2021, albeit only for pickup and delivery. But the good news is that they're back open for dine-in at a new temporary spot, where you can catch them for the next two months: yup, Holy Smokes BBQ is holding a pop-up in a new location in Poblacion, Makati until June!
Don't miss this limited-time popup of Holy Smokes BBQ in Makati:
Yup, Holy Smokes BBQ is popping up on Molina street in Poblacion—a.k.a. the former home of now-closed pizza spot Kermit Manila—until June 6. This is their first time opening for dine-in in two years—and we all know how freshly prepared food simply hits the spot differently! It's also worth noting that this will be their last time in the Poblacion area—that is, before they reopen in BGC in September with a "shift in concept," according to co-owner Maisa Acosta.
You'll be happy to know that their famous meat dishes—among which are the 48 Hour Beef Ribs with Dijon Herbed Butter and Truffle Marble Potatoes (P3,600/serves two to three), Smoked Angus Brisket (P850/250 grams), and USDA Prime Bone-In Ribeye with Umami Butter (P4,500/approximately 750 grams)—are rightfully on their pop-up menu, though you can also take a dive into their seafood dishes. There's the Roasted Apahap in Anchovy Brown Butter, Shitake Mushroom, Parsley and Dill (P1,950) and Grilled Prawns in Old Bay Butter (P600).
Prefer a handheld treat? You can also go for sandwiches like the Patty Melt (P450) featuring their homemade beef patty plus other fillings in between buttered sourdough. Also on their lineup are bar chow like the small yet impactful Beef Empanada with Mango Habanero Jam (P180) and Salt and Pepper Calamares with Curry Aioli (P350), as are pasta dishes that include the Marsala Mushroom (P420) and French Onion Mac and Cheese (P420).
As the space has a limited seating capacity of 40, reservations are highly encouraged—and you can do just that by giving their hotline (0966-532-5396) a ring. Note, too, that only cash, GCash, and online bank transfer-based payments are accepted for now.
Holy Smokes BBQ is a homegrown barbecue restaurant that opened at the corner of Matilde and Jacobo streets in Poblacion, Makati in 2016.
