(SPOT.ph) Burgers. We’re pretty sure everyone’s had at least one burger in their life—a classic cheeseburger, a smoky-grilled burger or even a plant-based burger. It’s basically bread and meat with an optional addition of cheese and veggies, not that hard to mess up—or so you think. In the culinary world burger preparation has always been the subject of debate: do you use a pan or a griddle or a grill?; Do you smash the patty or do you leave it thick? Everyone’s got their opinions and favorites. But at Madeats’ latest venture, Smooshed!, can you guess how they make their patties?
Smooshed is the latest addition to Madeats’ restaurant lineup. Madeats, the online restaurant group that brought us Yang Gang, Chow Time, Dot Coffee, and Fried Nice, describes their newest brand as one that serves “damn good smash burgers that’s big on flavor and with absolutely no frills or extenders”.

What Exactly Are Smash Burgers?
Smash burgers are cooked and squashed on high heat griddles while the patties are still slightly cool, a method that squeezes out moisture and some fat. This also makes the patties relatively thinner than usual. Yep, you read that right, they’re thin and relatively drier than grilled burgers but that doesn’t mean they don’t pack in the flavor. Once the patties are smashed to the right thickness, they are left to brown on the griddle—the secret to flavorful smash burgers. This added step is done to build a charry slightly smoky flavor before they’re flipped over and browned again.
The burgers at Smooshed! aren’t your ordinary burgers, they’re a smash (burger):
The menu at Smooshed includes classics like the Cheeseburger (P160) and Smooshed!’s take on the Barbeque Bacon Cheeseburger (P250)—but that ain’t all they’ve got under their burger-scented sleeves. Aside from the usuals, they also make a special Double Four Cheese Burger (P300)—and by double, we mean it’s got two patties and two cheese layers with an extra melted parmesan crust skirt that adds a layer of saltiness and umami, not to mention texture. There’s no running out of cheese on this bad boy.
To accompany your burger, Smooshed! also serves sides like Onion Rings (P95/plain, P150/overloaded) and French Fries (P90/plain, P130/overloaded) which can be customized to include a variety of toppings to the point of “overloading” them; think cheesy beef fries with special Smooshed! sauce. Wash down the burgers and sides with Smooshies which is Smooshed!’s take on the milkshake. It comes in four flavors namely: Ube Cheese (P130), Vanilla (P120), Milo (P120) and Cookies & Cream (P120).
If this hasn’t got you salivating and craving a mean burger that packs a flavorful punch, then we don’t know what else will. Smooshed! will be available on Madeats.co similar to their other brands.
