(SPOT.ph) Looks like we'll have to say goodbye to another Metro Manila hotspot: Makati City club XX:XX announced that they are closing up shop today, September 1. You've probably spent a night or two dancing away in this semi-hidden club at the La Fuerza compound along Don Chino Roces Avenue, so now is the perfect time to dig up those old pics and go on a nostalgia trip.
"After [more than four] years, for all the obvious reasons, we are forced to close our doors," they said on their social media accounts. They also posted a video with a huge "Thank you for dancing with us," on Facebook. The club, along with the 20:20 sister bar next door, was the go-to place for folks who wanted to hear live music from international and local artists, discover new acts, and generally have a great time. The spot was also where creative minds would come together, with pop-up exhibits and even a cinema where they screened rare films.
"It has been a great ride filled with lovely memories of the smiles and good times on the dance floor with all of you," said the Facebook post. "During these hard times for nightlife and culture, we hope that sooner rather than later things will return to normal, or perhaps even better. Goodbye for now."
XX:XX is the latest Metro Manila establishment to close down as the pandemic pushes on. Katipunan gig venue Route 196 and Cubao hangout spot, Today X Future—which offered a safe venue for the queer community—also announced their closure amid the quarantine.
