From a 36G Bra to Mom’s Ashes: 10 Crazy Items Fans Have Thrown on Stage in 2023

(SPOT.ph) You might have heard that rapper Cardi B’s recently threw a mic into the crowd after she was splashed by a drink while performing on stage. The thing is, it’s not just Cardi B who's been at the receiving end of these unwanted hurlings. From 36G bras to a bag of ashes, more and more people have been overstepping the line of what is acceptable fan behavior. This surge of poor concert etiquette has become a trend, arguably in hopes that the artist will interact with them. 

It should go without saying that this behavior is not okay, but with the way things are going, it warrants a reminder: It’s not cool to throw objects at people, especially at performers who are only working to give a good show. Doing so could cause very real accidents, like what happened to some of the artists below.

Rounding up 10 items fans have thrown at performers on stage in 2023

Cardi B – Drink contents

We’re starting off with what seems like the most harmless on this list, but one that got a rather violent reaction from the artist.

A fan splashed some of her drink’s contents on Cardi B while she was performing. Cardi B hurled her mic to the thrower in retaliation, only to miss her and hit another fan. The singing stopped, but the song kept playing in the background.

A day following that incident, it came to light that Cardi B mentioned how hot she was before encouraging fans to “throw me some water up here, b*tch.” It seemed that the fan might have taken her statement too seriously.

She wasn’t actually charged with battery for the act like some rumors claim, but we are charging her for lip-syncing to Bodak Yellow.

Drake – Large bras

We’re not just talking about any bra here, but ginormous ones. Drake has famously picked up a thrown bra on stage, saying, “36G? Locate this woman immediately.” When the girl revealed herself, PlayBoy wasted no time in signing her. Yup, she poses for PlayBoy now. It was a good ending for both parties.

Since then, Drake fans have been hurling large bra sizes on stage in hopes to impress him (or land a PlayBoy stint). The biggest cup size he has received is 36L, at least so far.

Pink – Human remains

You read that right. Someone threw a bag containing her dead mother’s ashes on stage while Pink was singing “Just Like a Pill.” Pink looked visibly confused (and understandably so) upon clarifying what it was from the fan.

“This is your mom?” she asked, inspecting the bag of ashes in her hand before putting it down carefully. “I don’t know how I feel about this.”

Like a pro, she continued performing the song like she didn’t just witness something traumatic a second ago.

Bebe Rexha – Phone

Bebe Rexha was smacked in the face by a cellphone that was flung from the audience. She was visibly hurt from the impact, bringing her hands to her face and dropping to her knees. The concert was cut short following the incident.

The fan who threw the phone was arrested and charged with assault. Why did he do it? He said he thought “it would be funny” if he hit her with the phone. Bebe Rexha went home from the hospital with a badly bruised eye and a few stitches across her eyebrow. Fortunately for the fan at fault, the pop star was a sport about the whole thing.

Ava Max – Hand slap

This isn’t technically something that was thrown, but the fan did throw himself onto the stage and somehow ended up slapping Ava Max across the face. She held her eye in pain, but braved on to finish her current song before leaving the stage. Ava Max was hit so hard that she suffered a scratch to the inside of her eye.

It seems like the fan wanted to hug Ava Max with open arms, but only ended up hitting her face with his arm as security crew grabbed him. Why he did it we’re not sure, but it’s another whole level of crazy for a fan to just storm up the stage like that.

Harry Styles – Flowers

More cute than concerning, it has become a trend to throw flowers at Harry Styles while he is singing his song “Grapefruit.” The lyrics serve as cue, with everyone tossing a bunch of flowers on stage in the line: “I was on my way to buy some flowers for you.”

It’s happened to Harry Styles on more than one occasion, so it’s safe to say he knows what’s coming for every "Grapejuice" performance.

Pink – Brie cheese

Why are Pink fans so weird? In another entry for the singer, Pink was gifted a huge wheel of brie cheese from one of the front row attendees. She hugs the brie close to her chest and mouths “I love you” to the fan. At least this one was more welcome than the human cremains.

The craziest thing about this whole incident is that it only happened a day after she received that bag of ashes.

Lil Nas X - Sex toy

Lil Nas X might be very open about his sexuality, but that doesn’t mean he wants to receive sex toys on stage, especially of genitals that he isn’t attracted to in the first place. During his song “Panini,” a fan threw a fleshlight in his general direction.

He jumped back in surprise and picked up the fleshlight: “Who threw p*ssy on stage? What’s wrong with y’all?” Fortunately, he was amused with the situation. Lil Nas X changed his Twitter display name to “p*ssy”, uncensored, and retweeted a clip of the moment the following day.

Kelsea Ballerini – Friendship bracelet

Kelsea Ballerini was signing and strumming her guitar when a friendship bracelet flew straight at her eye. She took a few seconds to recover on stage while her bandmates checked up on her.

Even something as small and sweet as a friendship bracelet could cause a lot of pain when thrown. Thankfully, Kelsea Ballerini said she was just more scared than hurt with the incident.

Steve Lacy – Disposable camera

Before Cardi B, there was Steve Lacy.

Ignoring the fact that this happened in 2022, not 2023, this was one of the first notable incidents where a performer got angry over items thrown on stage—and an innocent fan was at the receiving end of his wrath.

Steve Lacy was not having it when a fan threw her disposable camera on stage, likely in attempt to get the singer to take pictures with it. He stopped the song to yell, “Yo, don’t throw shit on the fucking stage! Please!” He wasn’t done. In response to the situation, he asked for someone else’s camera in the front row and smashed it on the floor before walking off the stage with “That’s it. Peace.”

Up until today, Steve Lacy isn’t sorry for smashing that fan’s camera.
