September is coming up, and with the arrival of JMC comes another slew of series and films hitting our favorite streaming platforms. As we prime ourselves for the early Christmas season in the Philippines, you might want to check out our top picks of binge-worthy, must-watch titles hitting your favorite streaming sites this September.

Netflix

Sex Education Season 4 (Series)

Release date: September 21

Reasons to watch: With a slew of cast departure news, filming, and release delays, it feels like it's been forever since we last saw our friends from Moordale. This fourth and final season has our favorite gang dealing with lots of changes following their school's closure and Otis' mom's new baby situation. Follow along as the entire gang, starring Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Mimi Keene, and more, adjust to their new life at Cavendish College. But before we say goodbye for good, will we finally get to see the will-they-won't-they couple Maeve and Otis have their happy ending together, or not?

What If (Film)

Release date: September 7

Reasons to watch: Alessandra De Rossi and JM De Guzman star in this romantic drama about two newlyweds who get stranded on an island during their honeymoon. This pushes the couple to confront harsh realities and deep truths about each other and their relationship. Will this experience bring them closer or tear them apart? Find out in What If. 

Love at First Sight (Film)

Release date:  September 15

Reasons to watch: From the folks who brought us romantic comedies like To All The Boys I Loved Before and Purple Hearts comes another flick that's bound to give you a dose of kilig. After missing her flight from New York to London, Hadley (Haley Lu Richardson) meets Oliver (Ben Hardy) in a chance encounter at the airport that sparks an instant connection. A long night on the plane together passes in the blink of an eye, but upon landing in London, the pair are separated. Will fate intervene to transform these seatmates into soulmates? It is based on the YA romantic novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E Smith.

The Little Mermaid (Film)

Reasons to watch: Didn't get to catch the live-action remake of this Disney classic when it hit cinemas? Don't worry. You can now relive the underwater magic and be part of their world on demand. Catch the re-told love story of Ariel (Halley Bailey) and Eric (Jonah Hauer King) as they find and get to know each other amidst the odds and the meddling of sea witch Ursula (Melissa Mc Carthy) in the 2023 version of The Little Mermaid. 

I Am Groot Season 2 (Series)

Release date: September 6

Star Wars: Ahsoka (Series)

Release date: new episodes every Wednesday in September

Reasons to watch: While technically coming out on the last day of August, you might as well sneak this one into your September list. The Comedy Island Philippines is a comedy show bound to make your days and nights lighter. Catch your favorite stars like Carlo Aquino, Rufa Mae Quinto, Andrea Brillantes as they show off their improvisation prowess along with comedians and content creators like Jerald Napoles,  Cai Cortes, and Justine Luzares in this hybrid scripted x unscripted show where they vye for the chance to make their way home off Tawa-Tawa island. 

The Wheel of Time Season 2 (Series)

Release date: September 1

Reasons to watch: After what seemed like an entire lifetime, we're finally getting the second season of Prime Video's original high fantasy series The Wheel of Time. This live-action adaptation of the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan with Brandon Sanderson follows Moiraine, a member of the Aes Sedai, a powerful organization of women who can channel the One Power. Following the events of season one, we finally see how they cope with the possibility that they did the world more harm than good by releasing "The Dark One."

Wilderness (Series)

Release date: September 15

Reasons to watch: This new Prime Video original is based on Wilderness, a novel by B.E. Jones. The on-screen adaptation stars Jenna Coleman of Sandman and Queen Victoria partnered with Oliver Jackson-Cohen from The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. Here we follow young heroine Liv (Coleman) as she goes about life saying the things you wish you had the guts to, doing the things you can only fantasize about, and living by her own increasingly outrageous set of rules. 

HBO Go

The Flash (Film)

Release date: August 25 

Reasons to watch: Were you able to catch DC's The Flash when it hit theaters early this year? Well, if you didn't, don't worry because you can finally stream it towards September on HBO GO. In this adaptation of the tale of our lightning fast superhero, we follow Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) as he tries to alter his past to save his family. But as we all know, you can't mess with the past without ruining the future.
