(SPOT.ph) For the practicing Catholic, Holy Week is a time to reflect. For those who aren't, it still presents an opportunity for time off from the daily grind. Ideally, this break will also be used for self-reflection, or a bit of peace, whatever your beliefs may be—or, alternatively, you could also use the holidays to catch up on your watch-list. Whatever your plans are for the week, we round up a bunch of the steamiest Tagalog movies you can stream on Netflix, precisely so that you can avoid them. Hey, you've got agency and, hopefully, media literacy. Use 'em.

The steamiest Tagalog movies you shouldn't stream on Netflix this Holy Week

Just a Stranger (2019)

Anne Curtis and  Marco Gumabao are at the center of this forbidden love affair set in steamy, sunny Portugal. You likely remember the posters and trailers of this movie setting off sparks in 2019, thanks in part to Gumabao's abs, as well as Erwan Heusaff having to come to his wife's defense. Yup, Anne Curtis has all the right to choose roles like this, especially when she does them damn well.

Alter Me (2020)

Remember Reb-Reb? Well, you may want to forget about him being everyone's fave bunso when you see Enchong Dee's first scene in this flick. In this one, Jasmine Curtis-Smith plays an emotionally repressed corporate slave who books (yes, books) the services of Uno (Dee) through the alter world on Twitter—to figure out how to be more open (emotionally). It's a sort of modern love story that you wouldn't expect.

Cuddle Weather (2019)

What happens when a seasoned sex worker (Sue Ramirez) decides to tutor a rookie call boy (RK Bagatsing) in the art of love making? Well, you can find out in this wet (the rain, folks) and wild movie centering around a sometimes fun, always spicy mentor-mentee relationship between Adela and Ram.

A Girl + A Guy (2021)

Erik Matti can do sexy, too. And not just any sexy, but a sex-filled movie with lots of hijinx and shenanigans as a group of young adults figure themselves, and each other, out. This film debuted as an Upstream original, the directors own Pinoy-led streaming platform, but can now be watched on Netflix. If you're looking for a steamy, funny, but still has zing, type of coming-of-age story, then this it.

Hush (2020) Series

Erotic-drama anthology series, anyone? We know it's not exactly a film, but each episode can stand on its own. Hush takes you on a ride through different 30-minute episodes all tackling different themes, from power play and sexual abuse to same-sex relationships, heck, even an engkanto comes into play. At the center of it all is the pleasure and, more often than not, pain that comes with it.

Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story (2018)

Nothing quite like watching two broken people find each other. DingDong Dantes plays as Sid, a successful stock broker looking to fix his insomnia. He ends up hiring the determined Aya (Anne Curtis) to keep him company—cue adventure-filled nights and cute montages to hide the wounds beneath. Dramatic much? Remember, it's not a love story, after all, so ready your tissues. This movie was not the first to veer away from the loud love affair movies of the 2010's but it was arguably the first to tell a story that hit more realistically.

Fan Girl (2020)

If you want to mix in some thrill with your steamy watch, then Fan Girl is the way to go. This genre-bending movie from Antoinette Jadaone had everyone abuzz when it was released in 2020, and nothing similar has come after in the local movie scene. If you still haven't gotten around to watching it, then you best do the work. Follow an obsessed fan girl portrayed by Charlie Dizon find out why you should never meet your idols, complete with Paulo Avelino playing a fictional version of himself.

Wild and Free (2018)

Suspense and sex sure do go together well. In this drama, what looks like an idyllic boy-meet-girl, they fall in love, and live happily ever after type of story takes a turn for the dark when the past catches up with them. Follow Ellie (Sanya Lopez) and Jake (Derrick Monasterio) to see if their love really lasts, secrets and all.

No Other Woman (2011)

The querida movies of the 2010's were something else. And No Other Woman, was in itself, also something else. You can rewatch the catty confrontations betweens jilted wife Charmaine (Christine Reyes) and seductress Kara (Anne Curtis) as they fight over Ram (Derek Ramsay). Reminder that no man willing to cheat is worth anything, but damn, is it fun to watch. Who can forget lines like "Ang mundo, parang Quiapo. Madaming snatcher."? And remember that scene with the violet outfits? We do, too.

The Escort (2016)

Derek Ramsay was a mainstay of the querida movies, that much is given. But don't worry, once you're over the shock of seeing Lovi Poe supposedly in a steamy relationship with dirty-old-man style Christopher de Leon (and that cringe-fest dialogue for the trailer) then prep for the real reason to watch: Jean Garcia! Yup, she's in it as another power player for this movie about an innocent waitress (Poe) getting entangled in the messy world of escorts.
