Eraserheads’ Ultraelectromagneticpop! Is Getting a Limited-Edition Vinyl Release
Only 2,500 copies will be made!
(SPOT.ph) Fans of Eraserheads got their hopes up earlier this week when members of the band—Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro—got together and jammed to their old song, “Minsan.” Some thought that the mystery blond they were with in the video was actually frontman Ely Buendia and that they would all be performing for the then-upcoming UAAP 81 Finals between Ateneo and UP, the band’s alma mater. Buendia quickly denied the rumors on his own Twitter account. But fans were hyped up once again when Adoro posted about an Eraserheads announcement to be made today, December 7.
Offshore Music, Buendia's new indie label, revealed the highly anticipated news—every diehard Eraserheads fan can soon get their hands on a vinyl record of Ultraelectromagneticpop!, the band’s first studio album. It's the 25th anniversary of the beloved album and only 2,500 copies of its remastered version will be made on vinyl and they're set to be released in early 2019.
In an event held in October to launch Offshore Music, Buendia talked about why he wanted his music label to release vinyl records. "We’re trying to rebuild people’s passion about music, the value of music, and how much work goes into it, and how much love an artist puts into it," he says.
The 1993 album was remastered by none other than the Grammy-winning Bernie Grundman. He's previously remastered albums by Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Dr. Dre, to name a few.
There are still a few months to go until the vinyl's release, but you can already listen to the remastered versions of hit songs like "Ligaya," "Pare Ko," and "Toyang," on Spotify.
