(SPOT.ph) We know how much you love your music and how bummed you can get when songs take a while to load (thanks, Philippine Internet speed!), or when your music downloads take up too much space on your phone. If you've been wanting to enjoy your music on the go without having to worry about connectivity issues or your phone constantly alerting you that you're low on memory, Spotify has you covered: they're officially launching Spotify Lite in the Philippines today!
It's just like the same old Spotify, but it's much lighter on your phone in terms of memory and processing so you no longer have to worry about your phone lagging as you listen to your music.
Spotify Lite operates the same way the original Spotify does: You can still stream music, listen to playlists, even make your own, and share music as you please. The biggest difference lies in Spotify Lite's demands on your phone. Taking up only 10MB, compared to Spotify's usual 92.8MB, Spotify Lite serves up all the same functions with a smaller need for memory, and the app downloads much faster, too.
The new Spotify Lite also lets you set a data limit so you don't exceed with your streaming, and you won't be met with a hefty bill for all that listening. You can also clear your cache when you're starting to run low on storage.
They function the same way, but you can download Spotify and Spotify Lite separately. You can have both versions or just one and you should still be able to listen to music on your phone. Both are available for free and premium users, and you can use the same login details for Spotify Lite. Any changes you make on Spotify Lite will be reflected on Spotify as well so there's no need to worry about trying to manage two accounts.
For now, Spotify Lite is only available on the Google Play Store in 36 markets, the Philippines included, with more markets and features to be added as the app improves. Hopefully it will be available on iOS soon!
