(SPOT.ph) It's hard not to sing along to addictive songs from theater classics and musicals and as much as it's the dream to catch a show when they come here, it can get difficult to squeeze in the time. Though theater is its own kind of medium, that doesn't mean you can't love the same story and songs delivered in another way (Les Misérables, anyone?). The next few years will be filled with theater movie adaptations and one of them is coming out soon: The trailer for Cats is finally out!
Based on the musical of the same name, Cats follows the story of several Jellicle cats trying to earn the right to go to the Heaviside Layer. The film introduces ballerina Francesca Hayward in her first feature film alongside Jennifer Hudson, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, James Corden, Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson, and Taylor Swift. It also brings director Tom Hooper onboard with Andrew Lloyd Webber to handle music—the theater legend has written a new song exclusively for the film.
The film is set for a December 20, 2019 release in the U.S. Release date for the Philippines is yet to be announced.
