(SPOT.ph) You probably know Henry Cavill best from his role as Clark Kent (a.k.a. Superman) in DCEU films Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League as well as Napoleon Solo in spy flick The Man from U.N.C.L.E. But it looks like the usually clean-cut Cavill may be looking to spice up his filmography because the British actor's latest role shows a side of him you've never seen before: Cavill is set to star in Netflix's upcoming fantasy drama The Witcher!
Based on the '90s book-series-turned-video-game of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher follows monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (Cavill) who finds himself isolated in a violent world inhabited by humans, elves, witches, and gnomes. Cavill appears almost unrecognizable sporting shoulder-length gray hair, dressed in knightly clothing, and wielding a sword.Â

The forces of destiny lead the solitary Geralt to Princess Ciri (Freya Allan) and sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra). The three must work together to survive in their divided and chaotic world. Though monsters roam, good and evil are not so easily identified and the main characters must learn to navigate tensions that brew between different species and creatures. We're biting our nails in anticipation of what epic adventure the eight-episode season may bring.

The show also features other actors that fans of the fantasy genre may recognize, like Jodhi May (who played Maggy the Frog in a season 5 of HBO's Game of Thrones) and Adam Levy (Simon in historical fiction series Knightfall). Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has previously written for television series The West Wing and Justice and also has writing and producing credits for Daredevil and The Umbrella Academy.
