(SPOT.ph) Friends always have your back—they offer you a ride, they know your go-to order, and they always just seem to know how to cheer you up. Things get complicated, though, when two friends hang out too much and feelings get involved, resulting in an odd more-than-friends-less-than-lovers situation. There's the added risk of potentially ruining a friendship, leaving a lot of what-ifs and questions in the air. Local film Ngayon Kaya starring Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez sees two close friends entertain the possibility of being in a romantic relationship.
To a stranger, Harold (Avelino) and AM (Gutierrez) look like they're in a relationship, but they just happen to be so close that they're more than friends, but less than lovers. AM asks Harold what he thinks of dating and says he doesn't believe in it. To him, it makes more sense to get to know a friend deeper and eventually start a relationship with them. Five years later, the two college friends reunite, and AM asks Harold an ambiguous question: "Pwede na ba?"
This is the first time Avelino and Gutierrez will co-star in a film. The T-Rex Entertainment film is directed by Prime Cruz and writer Jen Chuaunsu, who previously worked together on the the Maine Mendoza and Carlo Aquino starrer Isa Pa With Feelings. There's no exact release date for Ngayon Kaya yet, but it's set to hit cinemas some time in 2020.
