(SPOT.ph) If Parasite is the only film by Bong Joon-Ho that you've seen—no judgment here—you may want to check out his other genre-bending, class-defying films. Bong's 2013 film, Snowpiercer, a science-fiction flick starring Chris Evans, is a great place to start—especially since a new Snowpiercer TV series based on the film is coming to Netflix this May!Â
Starring Oscar-winner Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, this thrilling series jumps off from the same world as Bong's film. All that's left of humanity can be found on a single train—named Snowpiercer, of course—as it speeds endlessly through the frozen wastelands of Earth. Connelly and Diggs play characters at opposite ends of the train: Connelly as Melanie Cavill, a first-class passenger at the front of the train who is in charge of this new world's public announcement system, with Diggs as Layton Well, a passenger at the train's tail-end who becomes a reluctant player in an upheaval that upsets the Snowpiercer's caste system.Â
The series originally aired on TNT, an American television network, with Netflix bringing it to international shores. It was co-produced by Tomorrow Studios, Turner’s Studio T, and Korea’s CJ Entertainment, with the OG director Bong Joon-ho joining in as a producer! Netflix Philippines is yet to announce an exact date, but has promised that the show will come to the streaming platform this May.
