Does the Mean Girls Vicious Phone Call Still Hold Up 16 Years Later?
"It's still totally fetch," as Gretchen Weiners might say.
(SPOT.ph) Today in Nostalgia Hits: check out the Mean Girls' Plastics as they recreate that classic four-way phone call! Nothing encapsulated the wild jungles of high school and American pop culture quite like this early-aughts film—and seeing the OG cast, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, read out the unforgettable snarky-slash-ridiculous dialogue once again is probably one of 2020's few bright spots. Yup, Lohan decided to bless us all by dropping a clip on Instagram of them doing exactly that in a recent reunion!
Check out Regina George (McAdams), Gretchen Weiners (Chabert), Karen Smith (Seyfried), and Cady Heron (Lohan) read out the script on a video call, ending with the practically iconic "Boo, you whore," courtesy of Queen Bee Regina. The clip was presented with splices of the actual scene so you can compare the two in real-time. Can you believe it has been 16 years since Mean Girls was released? We're totally in love with Lohan's little character breaks especially when the Plastics' say their snarkiest lines!
This cult classic dropped in 2004, courtesy of Saturday Night Live legends Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey. The film has since been a mainstay of popular culture and, of course, Internet humor. How many recreations of the movie's unforgettable lines and scenes have you seen?
This is the second mini-reunion we have been blessed with in the past few months. Half of the Friends cast—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow—also reunited in a short clip for the 2020 Emmys in September.
