(SPOT.ph) If you were to ask most of the '90s kids about their fave cartoon back in the day was, they'd most likely answer Yu Yu Hakusho or Ghost Fighter as we call it. The Tagalog-dubbed anime used to air in the afternoon—a post-school treat if you will. While the series may have ended already, there's no stopping us from watching an episode or two. But come December 2023, we no longer need to rewatch old epsidoes as the streaming giant Netflix is set to debut a live-action adaptation. It was recently announced that the show has already found their main four and we couldn't be more excited.

These actors will breathe into life the four main characters of Netflix's Ghost Fighter.
You might've seen or known Takumi Kitamura from film live adaptations of I Want To Eat Your Pancreas and Tokyo Revengers as Haruki Shiga and Takemichi Hanagaki, respectively—but now you'll get to see him as the former delinquent Yusuke or Eugene, who, after his death and resurrection, becomes the "Underworld Detective" and investigate supernatural cases in the human realm. We all wanted to have spirit energy burst out of our pointer fingers like him with his technique, the "spirit gun."
Jun Shison is the perceptive and smart human-slash-fox demon Kurama, who we also know as Dennis, in the live adaptation series. If you're into anime, chances are you've watched Bubble on Netflix—if so, then you're probably familiar with Shison as lent his voice to the movie's main protagonist, Hibiki. Fun fact: Did you know that Kurama was initially introduced as a girl in the Filipino version of Ghost Fighter and was referred to as Denise?
Also joining the main cast is Kanata Hongo—if you think he looks familiar, you might've seen him as Armin in the live adaptation of the popular dark, post-apocalyptic, and giant-filled Attack On Titan. Now he's about to bring to life another beloved character, Hiei a.k.a. Vincent, the agile and spiky black-haired fire demon.
The one who's going to be playing Alfred or Kazuma Kuwabara, Eugene's rival turned close friend, is none other than Shuhei Uesugi. He's said to be the only muggle—sorry, wrong universe—the full-blooded human, rather, in the main four.
The live-action reboot has Sho Tsukikawa as its director. It is based on Yoshihiro Togashi's Japanese manga of the same name published in 1990.
