Looks Like We're Saying Goodbye to Cinema '76 for Awhile

(SPOT.ph) It's been a while since a most us watched a movie at the cinema. Going to an air-conditioned room full of other people isn't exactly a completely normal thing that's returned, at least not to the level it once was. While it is promising that many cinemas have reopened, with some making the most of the closure; take Cinema '76 Film Society for example. This microcinema and cafe in Anonas, Quezon City is known to many for being the place to watch indie favorites such as I'm Drunk I Love You and Heneral Luna, besides commercial flicks. The team behind Cinema '76 —and yep, indie film house TBA studios—recently announced on its social media pages that it will be letting go of its current location in favor of a newer and more improved site in Tomas Morato.

Here's what we know so far about the new Cinema '76:

According to a post on their social media, Cinema '76 Film Society and Cinema '76 cafe will continue to operate as usual in Anonas until October 4. After that, they'll be closing up shop and reopening elsewhere. There isn't a final date for the opening of their new branch, but all signs are pointing to sometime in November this year. Both the cinema and the cafe are going to be present in the new location.

As for the final address, Cinema '76 is still keeping mum, all we can share so far is that it'll be in the busy commercial district of Tomas Morato further up north in Quezon City. 

It was also around this time last year that Cinema '76 closed its original branch in San Juan City; thankfully, the Quezon City branch continued to operate once restrictions were lifted.
