As a step toward inclusivity.
(SPOT.ph) It's always great to hear how more establishments around the country carry provisions that cater to Muslim Filipinos. Here's a bit of a small but important step toward inclusivity: the McDonald's Tetuan branch in Zamboanga City recently put up facilities for Muslim customers, namely a prayer room and a Wudu (or foot wash) station.

Fast food chain McDonald's in Tetuan, Zamboanga City
The Tetuan branch opened on January 21, with the aim to "create inclusive spaces" for customers, staff, and managers practicing the Muslim faith.

These facilities were set up as a response to the needs of customers in the Islam faith, McDonald's Philippines Corporate Relations Director Adi Hernandez tells SPOT.ph. "It is also a demonstration of McDonald's commitment [to] championing diversity and inclusivity."
"Specific to Tetuan, we saw that not only do we have a lot of customers practicing Islam but our own employees as well so the facilities were a very welcome addition to the store [and] branch," Hernandez continues.
About time, really. Islam, after all, is a major religion in the Philippines, being practiced by around 5% of Filipinos—many of them from Mindanao.
