UP, Ateneo, DLSU Improve in QS World University Rankings
While two other institutions slip the ranks.
(SPOT.ph) The 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings came a little earlier this year, bringing good news for three Philippine universities which showed notable improvement in their standings.
The University of the Philippines (UP), which has been the top-performing university in the country for a few consecutive years now, ranked 336th in a list of more than 1,500 universities worldwide. This is quite a remarkable jump from its previous 404th spot in the 2024 edition. UP also placed 18th among universities in Asia this year.
The State U was followed by Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) at number 516 and De La Salle University (DLSU) at the 641-650 bracket.
The remaining two local universities on the list, however—University of Santo Tomas and University of San Carlos—slipped to the lower ranks, ending up at 851-900 and 1401+, respectively.

The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by QS, a British company specializing in education. It evaluates universities worldwide based on several factors, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, and more.
The rankings are widely regarded as one of the most influential and comprehensive assessments of higher education institutions in the world.
