Pets Are Now Allowed Onboard the Free Pasig River Ferry

(SPOT.ph) Following LRT-2’s recent pet-friendly mandate, the Pasig River Ferry is joining the strides to accommodate our furry friends.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, pets can now board the Pasig River Ferry. The best part? Unlike MRT-3 and LRT-2, there are less limits to what type of pets you can bring on. Meaning that the word “pets” doesn’t just mean small cats and dogs, but can come in any form as long as they won’t pose a threat to other passengers on the ferry.

Yes, we mean birds, rabbits, fish, hamsters, and everything else. Just make sure they aren’t too disruptive to bring them with you.

Take note that pets should be enclosed in a carrier or cage. That’s all you need—no more vaccination cards, diapers, and other rules that prohibit them from taking up space inside the ferry. We say use common sense and decency when bringing more than one animal aboard.

Pasig River Ferry continues to be free

Since its services reopened for the third time in December 2019, the ferry has been consistent in providing free rides to passengers who wish to cut travel time by half compared to commuting by land. "We have sufficient funding to give free rides to passengers," Romando Artes, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman, told The STAR.

The ferry traverses a 25-kilometer stretch with 13 stations, namely at Escolta, Lawton, Quinta Market, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Ana and Lambingan in Manila; Valenzuela and Guadalupe in Makati, Hulo in Mandaluyong City; and San Joaquin, Kalawaan and Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City.

Each station is equipped with a restroom and public Wi-Fi, too.
