Pasig River Ferry Could Have Three New Stations in 2024
Adding to its existing 13 stations.
(SPOT.ph) The Pasig River Ferry Service (PRFS) is slated for a major upgrade with three new stations planned in 2024.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) wants to open the three stations at Intramuros in Manila, Bridgetowne in Pasig City, and another in Marikina City to cater to the steady rise in PRFS commuters over the years. According to MMDA Chairman Don Artes, Pasig River Ferry Service had a total ridership of 254,000 in 2023—the highest number recorded on the ferry system since its revival in 2014.
There’s no word on the official timeline yet, but PRFS Central Administrative Officer Irene Navera told the Philippine Star that construction for the new stations will commence once dredging activities along the river is completed.
In addition, the Pasig River Ferry's waiting time is expected to be reduced from three minutes to two minutes, aided by the addition of three to four new boats to the current fleet of 15.
The 2024 budget for the Pasig River Ferry is allotted at P72 million for the ferry and station maintenance. Rides continue to be free for the rest of the year.

Operating stations in Pasig River Ferry Service
Since its services reopened for the third time in December 2019, the ferry has been consistent in providing free rides to passengers who wish to lessen travel time compared to commuting by land.
The ferry traverses a 25-kilometer stretch with 11 operating stations, namely Pinagbuhatan, Kalawaan and San Joaquin in Pasig City; Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati City; Hulo in Mandaluyong City and Lambingan, Sta. Ana, Lawton, Quinta Market and Escolta in Manila. Each station is equipped with a restroom and public WiFi.
Two stations, Maybunga and Polytechnic University of the Philippines, are closed for repair work as of writing.
