(SPOT.ph) Nothing beats the comfort and convenience of a premium lounge in an otherwise chaotic airport—and who else is better suited to receive the best than workers in transit? Check out the new Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) lounge at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

Accessible 24/7 at no cost, the OFW lounge is a dedicated space for hardworking Filipinos with amenities similar to those found in premium lounges for business or first-class travelers. It is located at the 4th Floor Pre-Departure Area.

The lounge is open to all OFWs regardless of the type of air ticket they hold. No need for an exclusive credit card for this one, either.

The OFW lounge in Terminal 1 is the first among several planned across major airports in the Philippines, including Metro Manila, Clark, Cebu, and Davao, indicating a nationwide initiative. A similar setup is also being prepared at NAIA Terminal 3.

The project is a joint effort by the House of Representatives, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Migrant Workers, and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA),  to show appreciation for the OFW's support to the country's economy.

According to House Speaker Ferdinand G. Romualdez during his OFW lounge inspection on January 13: “We also intend the lounge to be a place where our departing kababayan could build or foster camaraderie, share experiences, and maybe job prospects.”
