(SPOT.ph) Walk into any bookstore in the Metro and you'll find that Filipino publications usually take up just a couple of shelves. Local works have always flourished in the noble underground scene, but it looks like they're finally getting the space they deserve in the mainstream. The Book Development Association of the Philippines has officially announced Aklatan: All Filipino Book Fair at Megatrade Hall 3, SM Megamall, happening from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from November 20 to 21.
One of the exhibitors, Visprint, Inc., will be offering crowd favorites such as works by Bob Ong and Manix Abrera, as well as the award-winning graphic novel series Trese. There will be more, though, so bring big eco-bags! "Lahat ng genre ng libro dinadala namin," says Leilani Rapatalo of Visprint, Inc.Â
With its origins tracing back to 2013, when it was first organized by Visprint, Inc. and the National Book Development Board, the book fair is taking over an entire hall to showcase local talent and artistry. Touted as the "biggest all-Filipino book fair," this run is the perfect chance for you to check out what the local scene has to offer.
Aklatan All-Filipino Book Fair is from November 20 to 21 at Megatrade Hall 3, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. Schedule is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. For updates, follow the Book Development Association of the Philippines on Facebook.
