No More Tilapia Bait: Reusable Ice Cream Containers Get a Makeover

(SPOT.ph) If the Westerners have "Is it cake?", Filipinos have "Is this ice cream or fish?" thanks to reusable tubs our mothers and grandmas use to store food in the freezer. But the fun (or misfortune) we have upon discovering what's inside the frozen mystery box may come to an end soon, as a local ice cream manufacturer just started using see-through tubs.

Facebook user Angelo Jose shared a viral photo of a Selecta tub that clearly shows the double Dutch ice cream flavor inside. "Di na tayo malilinlang. Selecta na nag-adjust," he said in a post uploaded this Monday with more than 53,000 reactions, mostly hahas, and more than 23,000 shares.

We visited the nearest convenience store this Tuesday, April 18 to confirm if it's true. Several Selecta tubs are sporting the new design, which easily showed the ice cream flavors while some flavors still use the beige-colored ones.

Is it tilapia or galunggong? No need to wonder.

If you're like the mom of Fil-Am comedian Jo Koy (or Josep!), you might have used ice cream tubs as your own "Filipino Tupperware". This time though, your schoolmates or officemates will know what's your baon for the day.
