(SPOT.ph) Whether it's about work, schools, relationships, or just day-to-day living, life is riddled with a lot of stress. When you're in Alabang, the most obvious way to release stress is through an exceptionally good meal and a drink—but there's more to the neighborhood than the many restaurants and cafes it compromises. Alabang has hidden stress-relieving, endorphin-releasing activities that can help improve your mood, too.

Here are ways to de-stress when you're in the Alabang neighborhood:
Find your Zen through a pottery class at mwm
Art has always been known to be therapeutic. If you want to translate or channel your emotions through art, there's a pottery studio called mwm (mess we made) at BLOC10 along Filinvest Avenue. They hold different marbling classes where you can make and design your own plates, cups, and glasses. Plus, its main studio is all the way in Seoul, South Korea, so expect the place to have the same minimalist aesthetic.
mwm is at BLOC10, Filinvest Avenue, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For more information, follow mwm_manila's Instagram page.
Dance your stress away with G-Force
If you want to release your stress through fun movements and release endorphins, you can book a dance class at G Force's studio in Alabang. It’s the only other studio they have in the Metro, aside from the one in Quezon City.
G Force offers different dance classes focused on hip-hop, K-pop, sensual dances, and dance classes specifically for kids and teens. If you want to try it out, they have regular classes; but if it's the type of de-stressor that you want to keep for long, they have full-on workshops.
G-Force Dance Center Alabang is at 3/F Festival Mall Expansion, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For more information, visit G-Force's website.
Get your coffee fix and tattoo in one go at 1916 Tattoo Shop
If you love the burning sensation from eating spicy food, the same principle applies for tattoos, too. The pain felt as the needle pricks the skin is painful—depending on your tolerance and threshold—and the body battles this pain by releasing adrenaline and endorphins.
There aren't many tattoo studios in the area, but there is one hiding inside a coffee shop. 1916 Tattoo Shop is a tattoo studio right beside Higher Grounds Speciality Coffee, so you can get your caffeine fix and a tattoo session in one go.
Higher Ground Specialty Coffee is at Space A1.1, The River Park, Festival Supermall, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For more information, visit 1916 Tattoo Shop's Facebook page.
Visit art galleries for free at ATC and Molito
Alabang has two art galleries you can visit for free, and they're inside malls, too. Check out Village Art Gallery at Alabang Town Center, and the Art Lounge Manila at Molito Lifestyle Center. Both galleries are incredibly close to one another, so best to visit both for a short art gallery-hopping in Alabang.
Both galleries usually have free exhibits and the art pieces displayed change, but in rare cases, the galleries can be rented for special exhibits that can require an entrance fee might or registration.
Village Art Gallery is at Alabang Town Center, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City (near Burger King); and Art Lounge Manila is at Unit 13, Molito Lifestyle Center, Madrigal Avenue, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City (right beside Watsons). For more information, visit Village Art Gallery's Facebook page and Art Lounge Manila's Facebook page.
Rest your feet at the Water Garden and River Park
Festival Mall recently went through expansions with the construction of Landmark as well as the Water Garden and River Park. The latter is al fresco, spacious, partially shaded, and has plenty of spots where you can lounge around right by the Alabang River.
If you're tired from all the window shopping and need a place to rest your feet, you can sit on the grass, benches, or stairs. It would be best to drop by in the late afternoon just so you can also catch the area illuminated with warm lights for a Christmas feeling even when it's not the -ber months.
The Water Garden and River Park is along Commerce Avenue, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For more information, visit Festival Mall's Facebook page.
Ride a bike at the Filinvest Bike Trails
There's a reason why you'll see many cyclists in the neighborhood in the morning—especially on weekends. This is mainly because the neighborhood is bike-friendly: there are bike lanes, parks, and a bike trail.
One of the most popular places for cyclists is Filinvest's mountain bike trail. This is a nine-kilometer mountain bike trail for both experienced and beginner cyclists. If you want a more relaxed, leisurely biking experience, you can go to Spectrum Linear Park which is also in the same area.
For more information, visit Filinvest City's website.
Practice your swing at SouthPoint Driving Range
We're not condoning any de-stressing by hitting someone, but we would recommend hitting something—specifically, golf balls. You can have a field day swinging golf clubs at SouthPoint Driving Range. And if after a session you feel more relaxed and you think you have the potential to be the next Tiger Woods, you can hire a golf instructor at the driving range who can guide you accordingly.
But on the off chance you are still feeling a little stressed after trying out golf, we highly recommend you eat and drink your feelings out at Manongs. This Filipino restaurant is right beside the driving range and is one of the most frequented places for Filipino food, bar chow, and drinks.
SouthPoint Driving Range is along Promenade Street, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For more information, visit SouthPoint Driving Range's Facebook page.
Try rock climbing at Power Up Climbing Gym
For an intense, full-body workout that's sure to produce all the positive hormones you're looking for, you can try rock climbing at Power Up Climbing Gym. This is an indoor rock climbing gym that's a great jump-off point if you eventually want to try climbing outdoors.
Power Up Climbing Gyms is at Space 3305, Festival Mall Expansion, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa. For more information, visit Power Up Climbing Gym's Facebook page.
Play laser tag with your friends at LaserMadness
Need a de-stressing activity you can do with your friends? Laser Madness is a new laser tag spot in Alabang—and is currently the only existing one in the neighborhood. Laser Madness has different games your group can choose from. There's the Laser Blast for a classic game of laser tag; Time Freak for a time-bound game where players race to tap the lights on the wall; and Laser Vault is a laser maze where the players have to cross a room without touching the laser beams.
Laser Madness is at 3/F Festival Mall, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For more information, visit Laser Madness' Facebook page.
Learn self-defense at the International Krav Maga Federation
Krav Maga is a form of martial art that is known for self-defense. But more than that, this can help reduce a type of anxiety that can be caused by feeling unsafe. It's a given that this type of martial art will improve your strength and reflexes, but more than that, it also boosts self-confidence and improve mental resilience. The International Krav Maga Federation holds private classes for those interested.
