SPOT.ph Roundup: Malls With Open Spaces in Alabang

(SPOT.ph) There’s a running joke that Alabang has a different "breeze" and to be honest, it’s true in a way. To some extent, there is a luxury suburban vibe to the neighborhood, but the stark difference in the South is how spacious it is compared to other cities in the Metro—and where there is space, it is "breezier."

The malls within Alabang also apply that "spaciousness," in their design. Most, if not all, of the shopping districts in the area have open spaces. We created this guide if you ever find yourself in the South and you need a place to rest your feet from a day of shopping or walking around the neighborhood.

These are the five Alabang malls with open spaces:

Alabang Town Center

The biggest open space at Town (IYKYK), is the Town Plaza which is right where Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is. On ordinary days, kids are seen playing on the slides or riding the cutesy small animal cars. But there are days too when the Town Plaza is used for special pop-ups, weekend markets, and concerts.

The Town Plaza connects to other open spaces like the Corte de las Palmas and its extension. This is where the soon-to-open Kiwami Food Hall can be found, Shake Shack, the relocated Nike store, and Fully Booked. There's also the Activity Center, but it's rarely empty nowadays because it's being used for events and bazaars.

Alabang Town Center is at Commerce Avenue, corner Madrigal Ave, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Its operating hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

Festival Mall

When Filinvest recently expanded and opened Landmark, it included building the Water Garden. This is a wide body of water which the Alabang River flows through. On some nights, there are food stalls by the walkway of the Water Garden where one can grab a meal, sit on one of the many benches, admire the river, and go people-watching.

The Water Garden connects to the new River Park which has fountains and a bridge that connects to a mini park. Here, there are trees to offer shade and benches to sit on. It's a great break from all the window shopping!

Festival Mall is at Filinvest Corporate City, Commerce Avenue, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. It's daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Molito Lifestyle Center

If there's one thing we can say about Molito Lifestyle Center is that it makes al fresco dining enjoyable to the point where you'd prefer to sit outside than be in an air-conditioned room. Since the area has a large open space with wooden tables, chairs, and benches, it gives people the option to enjoy the fresh air and move freely.

Huge plus points for not being an eyesore, too. The grass is well-maintained and there are rarely any pieces of trash on the floor. Come nighttime, the open area is lit with strings of garden lights and they open the fountains where you can try to cross without getting wet.

Evia Lifestyle Center is at Daang Hari Road, Almanza Dos, Las Piñas City. The open area is open to the public 24/7, while the establishments within Molito have different operating hours.

Westgate Center

Westgate Center's charm is that it's not that crowded—at least, not yet. The area's layout is similar to Molito's in a way that it's more of a huge open district with different establishments surrounding it.

The bigger open space to take note of is the one right at the center. It doesn't have a name to it, but it can easily be identified once you see the establishments surrounding it such as Neil's Kitchen, UCC, Melo's, Whistlestop, and Brothers Burger. This area is slightly shaded by coconut trees and there are a few benches scattered for people to sit on. 

Westgate Center is at Filivest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Bloc10

Bloc10 isn't that known compared to the aforementioned establishments. So here's an overview: This commercial establishment houses a pottery studio, bike shops, a coffee shop that doubles as a car showroom, and different eateries—most notable is JTs Manukan as it's the only branch that exists in Muntinlupa City.

Bloc10 is eyecatching in two ways. First is that it's covered in vibrant murals, and the second is the mini park right at the center. The open area isn't covered, so it would be best to lounge on the benches or sit on the grass when the sun isn't unleashing its wrath. 

Bloc 10 is at Filinvest Ave, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. This is open 24/7.
