And that thrill of the unfamiliar is most felt when you find yourself literally faced with a gorgeous view that you just can't get enough of. Take for example waking up in an ultra comfy bed and, upon lifting the soft comforters, being greeted by stunning views of Singapore's harbor. Yup, nothing screams luxe vacation more than an experience like that. Which is, we dare argue, the main reason for the existence of hotels like Swissotel The Stamford. If you ever find yourself in need of, and capable of, going on a first-class vacation to Singapore, this five-star hotel should be at the top of your choices for accommodation.

Here's everything you need to know about Swissotel The Stamford in Singapore

Swissotel stands tall and proud—with 73 floors, this skyscaper is arguably the tallest hotel in the region—along historic Stamford Road, nearby many more instantly recognizable landmarks, old and new. Fort Canning Park is a couple blocks behind, near the high-tech Funan Mall. But it's up front that really takes the cake: Marina Bay. You can see views of the harbor right from the hotel, including, of course, the three-tower Marina Bay Sands. But we get ahead of ourselves.

From the lobby, you can access the Raffles City Shopping Centre and the Raffles Hotel; yes, you can start your shopping session the moment you step out of the lobby. That is, if you manage to peel yourself from your room's ultra comfy amenities. 

If you book a room, make sure to get the Harbour View ones as it makes all the difference. We got to stay at a spacious 40-square-meter Premier, which had a floor-to-ceiling window that had a door leading to a compact no-frills balcony—very vital to soak in those views. Take a look. 

As for amenities, the room was equipped with all the needs and treats one would expect from a five-star stay. The king-sized bed was peak comfort, there was a Nespresso machine with complimentary capsules and TWG tea, a 55-inch TV, a very generous amount of easy-access open closet space, which the overpackers among us are sure to appreciate, and more. All of this came in a thoroughly modern and subdued Swiss design, something this line of hotels is very well-known for. Sidenote: Swissotel is a part of AccorHotels so if you travel frequently for work, then it may pay to become a member.

Where to eat 

Swissotel The Stamford has eight dining establishments under its belt. CLOVE is right above the lobby under a massive glass ceiling and is where the buffets are served; the Asian Market Cafe has buffets, too, leaning more towards Asian flavor profiles; Prego has all your Italian classics and massive brick ovens to boot; watch soccer with fellow fans of the sport and kopi tiam at Kopi Tiam; taste first-class Japanese fare at Mikuni; and relax poolside with drinks from The Eight.

On the 70th floor of this storied tower are SKAI, a contemporary grill house, and JAAN by Kirk Westaway, a spot with two Michelin stars to its name and was part of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022. 

And if all you're looking for is some good ol' chicken rice, you can always head to the lower floors of the shopping center for food-court fare! The in-room dining options of Swissotel aren't to be missed either, especially if all you want is some precious me time: you, this view, and food.

What to do

Hitting close to home first: Shopping. Raffles Shopping Centre is easily accessible from the hotel lobby and is full of high-class brands like Furla, Aesop, Chanel, Dyptique, and more. Oh, and yes, there's a Sephora, too.

Now around the area are historical sites like the National Gallery and yes, Fort Canning. St. Andrew's Cathedral is more or less across the hotel, though the wide boulevards may make it difficult to walk around. Definitely don't miss out on Marina Bay, of course. Just a stone's throw away, you can visit the SkyPark Observation Deck atop the Marina Bay Sands; cross the Helix Bridge; check out the ArtScience Museum; walk around the Gardens by the Bay, and a lot more.
