A Murder-Mystery Immersive Theme Park Is Set to Open in Tokyo

(SPOT.ph) We're calling it—2024 is the year to visit Japan. In case you need more reasons to head to the Land of the Rising Sun, thrill seekers would be glad to know there's going to be a new indoor theme park in Tokyo.

Here's what we know about the new Immersive Fort Tokyo in Odaiba:

Based on research by Katana Marketing and Entertainment—the company behind this massive feat, Immersive Fort Tokyo is set to be the world's first fully immersive indoor theme park, which means here, guests are not mere spectators to a show or passengers in a ride—they are actually part of the stage and the experience. There are no boundaries between the stage and the seats at Immersive Fort Tokyo. 

Immersive Fort Tokyo will span over what used to be the Venus Fort shopping complex in Odaiba. The new theme park is set to cover all 30,000 square meters of the old commercial complex with its 12 attractions and six restaurants.

Expect murder mysteries, horror, and anime-themed attractions at this new theme park. Based on its website, you can expect a Sherlock Holmes-themed murder mystery attraction where you'll get to solve a case with the famous detective; a Jack The Ripper horror maze where you'll be transported to 19th century London where you'll have to evade the vicious serial killer as he tries to make you his next victim; and a Tokyo Revengers-themed escape room wherein you're caught in the middle of a conflict between the Tokyo Mankai and a group of new baddies.

How much are tickets to this Immersive theme park?

While their website does not explicitly say their rates yet, reports suggest that entrance rates start at JPY6,800 or around P2,600 for access to nine attractions; JPY 9,800  (roughly P3,700) for nine attractions plus either The Sherlock or Tokyo Revengers game; or get the most expensive pass at JPY14,800 (P5,700) which includes entry to the R-rated Edo Oiran immersive theatre.

Other new attractions in Odaiba, Tokyo:

Immersive Fort Tokyo will be sharing the space with another new addition to the Odaiba neighborhood. In place of what used to be the Palette Town amusement center, Tokyo's largest EV Cart Racing Circuit—City Circuit Tokyo Bay—has also recently opened.

Featuring primarily electronic racing carts, City Circuit Tokyo Bay is one of Japan's largest and the only motorsports circuit in Tokyo, with over 11,000 square meters of space. It features both indoor and outdoor tracks along with virtual reality simulators.
