(SPOT.ph) When we're looking for thrills or craving the perceived dangers brought to us by our favorite amusement rides, we often head to two places: Star City and Enchanted Kingdom. While these two theme parks are top-of-mind when looking for a good time for a reason, we here at SPOT.ph want to add more places to your favorite amusement parks.

We round up 10 other amusement parks that we think will bring you all the thrills and screams you should add to your weekend itineraries to make for a memorable trip.

Here are 10 must-visit amusement parks in and near Metro Manila to add to your itinerary :

Skyranch 

It's almost automatic that after Enchanted Kingdom and Star City, the next theme park you'll think of is Skyranch. But while Skyranch Tagaytay is undeniably the most famous location, bet you didn't know two other Skyranch branches have almost similar attractions. Aside from Tagaytay, you can also enjoy the Skyranch gigantic Ferris wheel, the thrilling Viking ride, the mini rollercoaster, and the majestic Merry-Go-Round in Baguio and Pampanga. No need to crowd Skyranch down South. There are also Skyranches up North!

X-Site Amusement Center

X-Site Amusement Center was made to excite—pun intended. This amusement center, located in the oldie-but-goodie Festival Mall, is home to the Philippines' biggest and longest indoor rollercoaster, an indoor go-kart track, bump cars, arcade games, and many more. There's something for everyone here. TBH, we think this amusement park down South ought to get more love. We mean, come on, all the thrills of your usual theme park, plus it's indoor and air-conditioned? It doesn't get any better than that.

Pixie Forest

You can't have been a student in the Philippines in the '90s to early 2000s without having some sort of core memory involving Pixie Forest. Yes, folks, this often-a-stop-in-field-trips is still up and running. Indulge all your fairy-core and cottage-core fantasies in this land of kid-friendly rides and games. If the thrills at X-Site Amusement Center prove to be a little too much for you, hit up this spot instead, they're at the same mall on the same level.

SM by the Bay

Tired of shopping at SM Mall of Asia's huge complex? Take a break from retail therapy and go on an exciting adventure aboard the 12 different attractions at SM by the Bay. This amusement center is right outside the main Mall of Asia (MOA) complex, and it's bound to give you your much-needed dose of adrenaline. Scream your heart out on the Dream Twister, feel all your worries slip away aboard the Drop Tower, and best of all, marvel at the beautiful Manila Bay sunset aboard the MOA Eye.

DreamPlay

DreamPlay is the first and only Dreamworks Animation-themed park in the country. Located in the vast property of the City of Dreams, play, dance, laugh, and party with all your favorite characters from animated flicks like Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Trolls, and many more. At first glance, the space may seem like it's geared toward younger audiences; but hey, age is just a number, right? But kidding aside, the activities in DreamPlay are open to all. Don't knock it 'till you try it.

Pro tip: if you're looking for the most thrilling attractions at DreamPlay, go to the Rope of Legendary Legends, The Wall of Destiny, and the Thread of Enlightenment. You're bound to find your share of thrills there.

Aqua Planet

Mix your need to wade in pools with a dash of adventure by going on any of Aqua Planet's 38 thrilling slides. Breathtaking drops and dizzying loops await all those brave enough to conquer the Tornado, the Sky Shuttle, the Superbowl, and the most exhilarating 100-meter free fall slide, the Aqua Loop, among many other wet towers of fun. But if slides aren't your cup of tea, other water attractions such as the Kiddie Zone, the Wave Pool, the Boogie Bay, the Flow Rider, and the Wave River might just be the ones for you. Aqua Planet is one of Asia's largest water parks. With a total land area of over 10 hectares, there's bound to be something here to tickle your fancy. 

Aqua Planet is at Clark Freeport, Mabalacat, Pampanga. It is open every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and from Saturday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rates start at P1080 for adults (above four feet in height) and P880 for kids (below four feet in height). Dinosaur Island 

Two words: Jurassic Park. If you're a fan of the Stephen Spielberg film or dinosaurs in general, then feel free to head over to Dinosaur Island. This theme park brings back to life the reptile kings of the past. Be amazed as long-extinct dinosaurs resurrect through the park's use of animatronics. Spot the t-rex, spinosaurus, stegosaurus, iguanodon, triceratops, and other dinosaur species in what could be their habitat. But, aside from all things dino, here at Dinosaur Island, you can also go on a VR roller coaster through their 7D Super Screen ride, learn about the fascinating world of insects, and take stunning photos with miniature replicas of landmarks such as the Taj Mahal, Pyramid of Egypt, and more.

Zoocobia Fun Zoo

Hop on for a safari adventure at Zoocobia Fun Zoo. Test your courage as you have close encounters and marvel at your favorite wildlife creatures. This adventure zoo theme park offers a wide variety of areas that allow guests to interact and learn about different species of animals. Get to feed farm animals like goats, sheep, and pigs at The Barn. Learn about endemic animals at Philippines Pride. View a collection of taxidermist-designed stuffed real animals at the Menagerie. These are just some of the other things you can do here at Zoocobia, but if it's thrills and shrills you are looking for,  don't count this spot out just yet. Zoocobia also features a bunch of other amenities and rides that'll keep kids and kids-at-heart excited. Ride the Giant Slide to escape The Maze, ride a camel, or better yet, try The Zooc. It is a gravity car that is patterned after the luge in Sentosa Resort in Singapore. It runs on a 400-meter track with three tight curves that are bound to make any ride a zoo-per thrilling one.

Inflatable Island

Fresh from its relocation and a major makeover, the Inflatable Island Beach Club is back with a more tropical and Balinese look. Pastel bean bags, nipa-style huts, and cabanas abound in Asia's largest inflatable playground. The new location in Subic has allowed the resort to expand. It now covers an area of over 4,200 square meters—that's as big as eight basketball courts put side by side. Beach-goers and adrenaline junkies can expect additional inflatable slides, towers, bridges, human launchers, swings, and so much more in the super-sized resort. So get ready to bounce, slip, and slide a la Wipeout at this water park.

Inflatable Island Beach Club is at Guerrero Private Resort, Olongapo-Bugallon Road, Olongapo, Zambales. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rates start at P799. SandBox at Alviera

If your idea of fun is scaling walls, free-falling, and taking on a giant swing, then head over to SandBox for a-rockin' good time. This adventure zone is decked out with rappelling and free-falling zones, climbing walls, a rope obstacle course, the country's tallest giant swing, and the star of the show, a rollercoaster zipline. But if challenging gravity isn't your type of thing, there are still other activities that'll keep you busy at this massive two-hectare recreation park, like ATV riding, UTV driving, and archery.

Pro tip: make sure to arrive at SandBox early. Some activities, like the rope obstacle course, take a lot of time to finish. A queue may form and if you end up at the far end, you may never get your turn. Also, make sure to apply and bring sunscreen as most activities will have you roasting under the sun.
