You Can Soon Mail in Your South Korea Tourist Visa Application

(SPOT.ph) Have you been itching to go to Korea to attend your ult's concert in their homecourt, witness the cherry blossoms during spring, or eat authentic Korean food? First things first, you need to apply for a Korean visa.

Good news: Starting in February, Palawan and Mindanao residents who want to apply for a South Korean tourist visa can send it via postal service. No need to fly to the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) in Taguig or go through accredited travel agencies to send in your application.

Here's how you can apply for a Korean visa via postal service WExpress:

In a Facebook post by Korea Visa Application Center Philippines, they announced that Palawan and Mindanao residents applying for a tourist visa under 59 days can send in their application through the Wide Wide World Express or WWE courier (formerly DHL Philippines), which is KVAC's exclusive and authorized courier partner for Korean visa submissions.

Process for Korean visa application via WExpress:

Most of the prep work remains the same, wherein you, the applicant, should visit KVAC's website to check the updated list of requirements for the tourist visa. Once you have all the requirements needed, you can go to the nearest WExpress branch, where they will verify your identity (bring your national ID card), and where you'll pay for the visa application fee of P900/applicant and WExpress service fee of P1,000/applicant.

You will then receive an email from WExpress confirming they have received your application; after three working days, you will receive an SMS from KVAC' confirming your application; and then after seven working days, during which the embassy screens your application, you will receive another SMS from KVAC regarding the visa issuance. This is followed by an email from WExpress with the same intent to confirm the issuance. Lastly, your passport will be returned to you.

Note: If you're representing or applying on behalf of a family member, you'll need to provide a copy of their PSA birth certificate or marriage certificate. But if you're representing a co-worker, you and the co-worker need to provide a copy of their company ID or certificate of Employment.
