Ayala Avenue and Makati City Light Up for the Holidays

(SPOT.ph) While Christmas celebrations "officially" began in September, everything is kicking up a notch, especially now that Halloween and the Undas season are over. Case in point, if you've been around the Makati CBD lately, you might have noticed that it's gotten significantly brighter and, dare we say, merrier too. That's because, on November 6, Makati City and Ayala Land officially launched their Christmas celebrations with a festive city-wide lighting ceremony, giving the bustling CBD a warm holiday glow-up.

From marveling at the bright, shiny parols illuminating the streets to visiting busy weekend pop-ups for your holiday shopping, here are the different ways to celebrate the holidays in Makati.

Check out the sights and activities you can expect in Makati this holiday season:

Scattered along the entire 1.9-kilometer stretch of Ayala Avenue are Kapampangan parol-inspired designs and traditional Filipino Christmas visual patterns. Trees shine bright with lanterns strewn across their branches and will twinkle alongside beloved classics, such as stars and capiz-adorned lights.

Not to be outdone, the Ayala Triangle Gardens is also decked out for the season, offering guests a "multi-sensory" experience. The garden is adorned with mirror frames emitting a neon glow with the occasional bursts of light casting a familiar warm light across the space.

While the decorations and shows aren't as grandiose as in previous years, the garden is still one of the best spots to bask in the holiday vibes. Aside from the bright lights and festive decor, the Ayala Triangle Gardens will also be the stage for various performances from choirs, orchestras, singers, dancers, and theater performers. See the likes of Bituin Escalante, Ballet Manila, The Luminaries, and many more as they perform on select weekends at the park. But if you're only there on the weekdays, some of Makati's most well-loved buskers will also entertain commuters and office workers after hours.

It's no secret that Ayala Avenue and the Ayala Triangle Gardens are two of the most festive areas in the Metro during the holidays. This year, Makati's display is illuminating more places than ever before. 

Expect to see holiday décors in Jaime Velasquez (Salcedo) Park, Legaspi Park, South Avenue, and even all the way to Circuit Makati, which will soon be home to its own wonderland filled with glammed-out trees, lights, and glimmering holiday installations.

Aside from taking in all the cheery sights, there are also a ton of holiday weekend markets where you can get your shopping done. Mark your calendars for these weekend fairs; you might just find the perfect gift for your partner or your parents here.
