(SPOT.ph) While the Philippines has yet to go back to "normal" (i.e. no face shields and face masks required, and no ever-looming fear of catching COVID-19), this year's holiday season is once again subject to bits of adjustment. The Ayala Triangle Gardens' annual Festival of Lights is likewise going virtual, similar to their Christmas display in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. It goes live on November 12, 6 p.m. through Make It Makati's online platforms.

Again made in partnership with Globe Studios, Ayala Land's Festival of Lights 2021 features not just one, but two parts. The first is a recreation of Makati's Christmas lights and sounds show within the digital space through a 360-degree animation. The second, which is this year's special addition, is a 2D animation narrating the Paskong Pinoy tradition of celebrating with family. It's made even more special through the accompanying new Christmas medley by Jose Mari Chan

When asked why he agreed to be part of the project, he told members of the media on November 12: "It is always delightful to be associated with the most joyous season of the year."

While part one is coming out tonight, we may have to wait for a few weeks before we see the second one. Globe Studios Director Quark Henares and company promise that it's going to be worth the wait.

While the Ayala Triangle Gardens' Festival of Lights remain online, Christmas lights along the two-kilometer Ayala Avenue still shine bright.

The bustling Central Business District is all lit up with larger-than-life installations designed by Zenas Pineda and inspired by the Kapampangan parol and elements of stained glass windows often seen in Philippine cathedrals. The pieces also boast good sustainability practices as they are made from recycled materials, including the elegant capiz chandeliers that were used in previous Makati Christmas displays.
