South Korea Drops Post-Arrival RT-PCR Testing for Travelers

(SPOT.ph) South Korea is a destination most of us are dying to visit, especially after being cooped up in our homes for over two years. Whether K-dramas, K-Pop, or Korean food, anything related to the Hallyu wave has been a common coping mechanism for pandemic blues for most Filipinos. This is why when news about traveling to Korea comes up, it always excites us and makes us check if it'll bring us closer to the object of our obsessions.
Recently South Korea already made inbound travel to their country easier by lifting the pre-departure testing requirement but hold on to your horses, guys; we've got news—South Korea is also lifting their post-arrival testing requirement starting on Saturday, October 1.
The latest in travel requirements for South Korea (effective October 1):
Starting this Saturday, October 1, at 12 a.m., all inbound passengers to South Korea will no longer be subjected to a COVID-19 RT-PCR test upon arrival. This news comes after a gradual decline in infections has been recorded.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) cites the decrease in the proportion of infections from overseas (recording 0.9% in September versus 1.3% in August) and the low fatality rate of the BA.5 subvariant as reasons for the relaxing of entry requirements.
However, Korea could once again tighten restrictions on foreign entrants depending on the global virus situation, such as an uncontrolled wave of infections or an emergence of a risky virus variant.
