(SPOT.ph) Don’t judge this book by its cover. While the hotel name may give you visions of business meetings and team-building seminars, Quest Plus Conference Center is more than that kind of venue.
For those who have been to this part of Clark years to decades ago, you may recognize this property when it was under different names. The hotel has undergone a few facelifts and is now part of the sprawling 201-hectare Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City.
Everything You Need to Know About This Clark Hotel
The biggest feature of this estate is the 128-hectare Mimosa Golf Course, which has had several improvements while keeping the decades- to centuries-old Acacia trees intact. Golfers can choose between two 18-hole courses—the challenging Mountainview and the scenic Acacia Lakeview.
Annual golf passes are available (starting at P136,000 per year), and it gives members special perks and discounts to Mimosa Plus’ other facilities, such as the hotel and villa. But the entire estate is open to non-members and walk-in guests.
When booking a stay at Quest Plus, you may choose between two locations depending on your budget—the hotel with 303 rooms or the private villas located a few blocks away.
The hotel has three types of rooms—the Deluxe Room (starting at P4,000 for two), the Club Deluxe Room (P7,500 for two), and the Junior Suite (P9,500 for two adults and two children). All rooms come with free breakfast for two, access to the hotel’s restaurants and facilities, and standard four-star room amenities. A golf-club pass or stay at the Junior Suite grants you access to the exclusive Q Lounge on the seventh floor.
If you’re looking to spend more on privacy and luxury, there are villas a few blocks away from the hotel. Choose from three types—the Grand Villa Deluxe (P18,000 for two adults and two children), the Grand Villa Premiere (P25,000 for two adults and two children), and the Grand Villa (P42,000 for three to nine adults and from two to six children).
Each villa has a view of the Mimosa Golf Course and comes with a private pool, luxury bedroom, bathroom with full amenities, and exclusive breakfast service. You’ll also have access to all the facilities around Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City, including Quest Plus. Villa guests can opt to be picked up and have their breakfast at Quest Plus instead of the private service breakfast. But when you’re staying at a special villa that feels like a private Balinese escape, who would want to leave?
What To Do
For starters, you can explore the estate. Just hop on and off the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service that takes guests to key places like the newly-renovated golf clubhouse. Filinvest has grand plans to launch an al-fresco retail strip and the Mimosa Filinvest Lifemalls in 2024, a casino complex in 2026, and an events pavilion.
For now, you can walk outside the hotel to explore the Instagrammable park nooks or have a look at the golf course if you’re considering signing up for membership. There are bamboo bikes that you’re free to use around the property. Just ask the front desk.
Gym buffs, you can either hit the Equinox Fitness Center on the ground level or borrow the hotel’s sports equipment and head to the basketball, badminton, and volleyball courts around the property.
If you’d rather cool down, the hotel has a pool with a lifeguard to watch over your kids. Weekenders, don’t miss the kid-friendly foam party every Saturday. Kids and kids-at-heart may borrow puzzles and board games from the front desk. Check out the bulletin board in front of the elevatory lobby to see which activity piques your interest.
Where To Eat
If you have a golf membership or booked one of the junior suites, you’re granted access to the exclusive Q Lounge on the seventh floor, where you can have breakfast or cocktails with a view of the lush estate.
For regular guests, breakfast is served at Mequeni Live on the ground level, where you may also go for an eat-all-you-can lunch or dinner. They have nine stations, including a pasta station, sushi corner, roast area, and the star of the show, the dessert station, which is the first to greet you at the entrance of the restaurant.
Don’t miss the dessert station’s gelato wheel. Choose from 12 mouthwatering homemade ice cream flavors in a revolving freezer that’s fun to watch while you wait your turn. Come back for as many scoops as your sweet tooth can handle.
If you’re not feeling the buffet, Mequeni has a menu of intercontinental choices, from appetizers to desserts, which you can have at the restaurant or delivered to your room.
If you want a dose of nightlife without leaving the hotel, you have two choices: Charley’s Sports Bar, which is open from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends, and Mequeni Lounge, (open from 8 a.m. to 12 mn), which transforms from a café in the daytime to a hotel bar at night. Both are on the ground floor.
Charley’s is a sports-themed bar that serves big breakfasts from 6:30-11 a.m. and all-day plates. For families and big groups on weekends, we suggest the Caveman’s Weekend Pit with prices ranging from P550 to P790. You can choose a combo of two to four barbequed meat and two to three side dishes. There are sports memorabilia that you can admire indoors while watching a live sports game, but the al-fresco setting with a live barbeque station will give you that ultimate vacation feel.
As for Mequeni Lounge, you can cross-order some finger food from Mequeni Live while enjoying the lounge’s mixology list. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch some live performers. If not, just chill with your buddies with your poison of choice. For an Instagrammable ladies’ drink, try the Volcanic Watermelon (P430).
Golf and Brunch
Don’t end your Quest staycation without having brunch or mid-afternoon coffee at Baker J’s newest branch. It’s in the Mimosa Plus Golf Clubhouse, just a quick shuttle ride from Quest. Don’t be intimidated by the influx of golfers; Baker J Clark caters to golfers and non-golfers alike.
They have two big dining halls with the signature elegant-meets-cozy interiors of the original Baker J in Alabang and an outdoor dining area with a view of the sprawling Mimosa Plus Golf Course.
For crowd favorites, order their all-day breakfast sets, such as the Farmer (P650), which gives you sunny-side-up eggs, moist pork longganisa sausage, crispy bacon, and chicken tocino with kamote crisps and Bearnaise sauce on the side. Also try the Eggs Benedict (poached eggs with ham) or Eggs Florentine (with spinach) (P300) and the Complet (P550) which gives you two free-range eggs any style, homemade sausage and bacon, roesti, roasted sliced tomatoes, a side salad, your choice of waffle or pancake for dessert.
Whatever you choose from their digital menu, whether healthy or greasy, it will make the perfect post-round meal after your 18-hole course, or for non-golfers, a scenic spot to dine any time until 7 p.m.
While you’re there, check out the golf simulators at the second dining hall of Baker J. Practice your swing or play an entire round of virtual golf after your cup of coffee.
Where to Shop
While we wait for their retail strip and lifestyle mall to come to fruition, you’ll have to drive out (or hop on the Quest shuttle service) to explore the other shopping destinations and tourist spots around Clark.
Pressed for time? There’s a pasalubong center in the lobby, where you can conveniently purchase souvenirs, local crafts and delicacies, and baked goods from Mequeni and Baker J without having to leave the location.
